I bought my truck used in March of 2016 and love it. Wanted a Tacoma since high school, almost 20 years ago! Most of my mods are for one purpose, using my truck as live-in camper for extended kayak fishing trips.

Water Storage/OBA System:

For the tanks I used 6" SCH40 PVC and standard plumbing fittings. Each was coated in bedliner for durability, and heat absorption in the case of the upper warm water tank. To mount the interior tank and various other tool mounts seen below, I pulled ideas from this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-hi-lift-and-tool-mounts.260147/. What model Hobie do you have? If you didn't buy a long bed, go get a bed extender. I still have mine that I used with a previous truck, but I don't need it with the extra 1' now. Being able to keep your boat fully rigged and just slide it out ready to fish is such a time saver. Not long ago I had an Evo with a roof rack and the loading/unloading ritual got old. I only use my current roof rack when transporting multiple kayaks now.

 

Nice setup op, i personally opted for the waterport. But i see where you are going with this. You can buy "bushings" in abs that will have a 3-4" hub depending on the pipe size you chose and a 3/4" thread for a hosebibb. Then you will just have to use transition glue. Between pvc/abs.

 

Something like this, may have to nest a couple bushings if you cannot find the correct size. Plus these can be glued in a twye fitting if you want another bibb facing down in the centre.

 

No need for using ABS, I have found every piece I need in PVC. I have 1/2x1/4" bushing for the air valves, 1x1/2" bushings for the hose bibbs, and 1-7/8x1-1/2 bushings for the filler caps. My only concern is how to seal off the larger caps that will be screwed on/off continuously. As I mentioned before, Vaseline was one suggestion but I think joint compound is going to be a better bet.

I would have bought the WaterPort too, but like the RinseKit the capacity was less than I thought I needed.

Super jealous, if I had another boat it would be a TI. I saw a few of those at the JBay tournament, they can really fly! I'm surprised you're not towing with a 16' boat, but if you live in a city I can understand your choice.

I mostly pursue stripers in my home waters on the upper Chesapeake, but I also have perch days in the dead of summer. This year a snakehead is on my bucketlist as well.

My advice to you would be to not pressurize sch 40 pvc with air. That is a violent explosion.

I fish salt fish Rhode Island and Martha vineyard. Both places towing is not an option due to the places I go. I had a f350 and rack was way higher.
Tacoma way lower it's gonna be so nice.

 

All SCH40 has a pressure rating. 6" is safely rated for around 180 psi, but failure is closer to 750 psi. How do you think they pressure test sewer systems. 30-40 psi should be more than enough to do what I want.

Nice snook. I've caught a few of those on various trips to Florida. One of the best eating fish I my opinion and fun as hell on a fly.
