anyone installed the bed light kit? Like it? i assume it runs off the cargo light? Forgive me if this has been discussed but a search had no results.

Last weekend I installed the mattgecko bed light kit: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fs-waterproof-under-bed-rail-led-lights-3rd-gen.391380/

Installation was easy, they seem pretty well protected, and light output is great. The only downside is that it requires the front bed rail, which did not come stock with our trucks, so add about $45 for that.

I also put in the hood lights at the same time and the whole process took about an hour and a half working mostly by myself and with occasional help from my 3-year-old daughter and decrepit mother.

With my Tonno Pro cover, they provided a cheap Velcro LED which actually works well. Put it on around Christmas and still works. I like the removable, Velcro, because I can haul mulch or whatever and easily remove it.

    Cheers,

I also went with the stock bed light kit, but I wired them up directly to the battery with their own relay and fuse.

Bought this Brite-Saber today. I like that there is nothing to mess with, the remote option intrigued me and that it can be moved under the hood or anywhere at anytime....possible cons Im already thinking about is battery life and where do you leave the remote. Hopefully shows up soon for eval and it costs about $45. One I ordered is black like most of the led flashlights.

I followed this youtube video https://youtu.be/ofB834nEVkw and if you were to watch this on YouTube exclusively, there is also a link to the paper instructions and the templates needed for drilling the holes. The only deviation I did was I routed the wire into the cab through the grommet directly in front of what the instructions stated.

I was impressed alone with the cab's bed lighting ability. Wish my 2nd gen had it!

I went wit the "OEM" lights as well. They're not true Toyota parts per say.....but rather a dealer option offered by Toyota Southeast dealers.

That said...I threw the instructions in the garbage and wired mine independently of everything. I can turn them on and off at will....with or without the truck running.

I happened to have an older OEM rocker switch from years ago. I just used that.

Some of you G3 guys could just power it off of the existing cargo lamp.
