Screwing the Canister on is easier than the conventional filter, I always had a problem getting it started.

I consider cleaning up an oily mess more work than unscrewing a drain plug.

I once converted a '67 283 from OE cartridge to a 'modern' spin on. :D

This looks like a neat arrangement as far as the parts used goes.

But for $300 up front and the delta on the filters, I'll stick with the spin on. I don't have enough mess to fret over. :fingerscrossed:

I understand if it’s not for you, but a lot of people have been praying for a solution.

I don’t mind conventional filters if they are horizontal or like the 1GR's, but the 2TR’s filter orientation is a pain.

Did your ‘67 283 cartridge have a drain?

Not that I can recall. I think it was just a shell you dropped off then pulled the cartridge out.

My '59 6 cyl. didn't even come with a filter. Mine had an add on that was u-bolted around the intake manifold and plumbed to the engine, kinda like a turbo. It was a cartridge too. Kinda like one of these.

But the truck also came with an oil bath air cleaner, which was pretty common in the day.

Like I said, your package really looks nicely done. If it met a need for me, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I like things that look OE or are like the OE could have done it to begin with.

Now I'm confused. The oil filter orientation is vertical with the open end up. How could that be better? I always top off the new filter with oil before installing. I hold it vertically so it doesn't be spill and screw it on. Easy as pie. It helps to have long arms I guess.

And I'm saying that the orientation is already as good as it gets. You're saying that it would be better if it's upside down?

Nah, I'm fine with it. I've seen people complain about it on here and I think it must be mostly user error, or people just like to complain. Either that or they have so much money that they have to invent problems so they can solve them with that extra $300 that they didn't know what to do with.

Well, there must be a huge market for this kit then. Good luck with your venture.

I get to do this cartridge thing with the RAV4 and spillage no issue with a pan under it on the truck so the price of this will keep me from it even tho just buying same cartridges for RAV & truck would be convenient...........maybe GB prices would be more tempting. Part numbers for the cartridge holder a secret?

This looks pretty neat! I already have a Fumoto valve on the oil pan, and that's wonderful. It makes the only messy part the filter change, and while my method of holding a cut-open milk jug under the filter while I unscrew keeps my arm dry and 90% of the mess away, it is still annoying because I still end up having to wipe down the stuff that dribbles off the flange.

A few questions though. This will fit a 3rd gen 2TR, right? There's no reason it shouldn't, I don't think that mounting flange has changed since the 3RZ...

    Second, what is this bit:
Is that for the oil pressure sensor or something?

Third: Country of Origin? I see there are some Toyota OE parts but is the adapter made in the USA, or overseas somewhere?

And finally... is there a group buy coming up? :D

Yes, I believe it’s still the same block for the 3rd Gen.
Those are on your truck now- there’s one pre and post filter. Guys use the post filter location to source oil for their turbo.
    It’s made in Japan
