Anytime Front and Rear Camera Mod

Nope. Just anytime front camera. I have no need for an anytime rear camera (though I got the front/rear kit because that's what JJ recommended).

 

Quite frankly, this is crap. First of all JJ never claimed to be the first to develop this mod. He just made a clean and easy to install kit with everything included. He even said he is taking over production from Brendan (who also never claimed to develop the kit)

I call BS. You can't sue for loss if you are not the DOCUMENTED creator of a product or process. This guy needs a course in business law.

 

Yeah, thought it was really weird when I received that PM. Especially since there is at least 1 company out there making this product.

It would be really nice on here if JJ would at least give us an update on what's going on. If he isn't going to sell his product, at least let everyone know as a courtesy.

 

He might be holding his tongue till he has some legal counsel.

 

From all that I’ve read he sounds like a great guy. He told me he’s taking things in a different direction and not selling kits anymore, bummer because this looked like a great solution

 

Judging by the quality of the site and amateur wiring of the kits, I’d say probably the same person. Don’t know about you, but I’m not trusting my truck to some hack with a soldering iron. I’ll wait for JJ or do it myself.

Something tells me this person doesn't even own a Tacoma and just comes here to sell his junk (and try to intimidate legitimate members). This is a violation of forum policy and I for one think he should be banned. Threatening legal action is bullying and should not be tolerated.

I am also questioning his claim to have any involvement in developing this mod to the point of it being his sole intellectual property.

That connector went on sale in Oct 30, 2016, and was listed as: "This wiring harness will allow splicing into the existing 28 pin connection to the head unit without damaging factory harness. --Access reverse signal input to allow switching rear view camera on when not in reverse."

So, I claim the original seller jshsltr could claim rights to this mod. Though he never did (like all good members who share info not try to profit from others)

Ok, so why am I posting this all here? Well, for selfish reasons because I want one of JJ's kits. I also want him to feel safe making these kits and selling them here. I don't want to see anyone bullied by someone who can't even compose a decent sentence. Yes, Hoangde I'm calling you out. You're a hack and you have no rights to push your junk on this site.

JJ's has the best looking one I could find with the best customer service and he's a VET! He must come back.

 

From my understanding, the one hoang makes, you will need to change the source in your head unit, while jj doesnot require this. I dont want to disrupt radio or music just to tirn on the camera

It was passed on to him from another before and hopefully will be again when the time comes. Once you see the kit it's pretty straightforward if you can source the connectors so even if the worst came to pass and something has happened to him it won't be the end of this mod. We lived without this for decades, it can wait a few weeks/months more. Put your hopes on his well being rather than what he can do for you.

 

I have no clue what you just posted. If you have any info about JJ then please let us know. Obviously we all hope he is ok. I just want to make sure he is not being pushed away by a troll.

 

He inherited the mod from another vet, at least that's what it says in the op, which I have no reason to doubt. There could be many reasons for his absence I only hope as you do that it's both temporary and a minor inconvenience. I don't know him at all other than through interaction from this thread so sorry, I can't add anything other than be patient and keep your hopes up. The mod itself is in no danger of being lost or forgotton.

Allow me to share a few detail so people can read and will understand and not wasting more bandwidth of this TW in the near future

Why your guys do came here yelling, calling, bullying and being a Keyboard Warrior??? Are you upset because you can’t buy a kit from JJ for your own use or something else that I don’t know yet?

Anyway, here are the facts:

1. I’d designed circuit and posted on TW for members to build their own. Yes, before I posted, no such thing as Front/Rear Camera circuit with relay in the market nor online. Also there is not a circuit for Tacoma to control A/V online. I’d spent countless hours, money and resources to understand, designed, verified and improved the functionality that I wanted.

2. JJ contacted me (while ago) to exchange for some cables in returned I built one and shipped back. JJ also kept my 2rd cable after I sent out (in good faith) when JJ stated that 1st cable does not work. Requested to ship back one cable to me but until this date, still waiting.

3. One of us? What’s that mean? I was in service and til this days still work in a field to protect this beloved country… So do not try to use one of us ….

4. Bully? Am I ? Posted my works for members to understand and build for their needs… I’d contacted JJ, informed JJ that he used my works for his monetary gains. Also lets him knows that there is possible actions. Also send him a phone number and hope he will open communication channel with me so we can understand better, So far no contact, pm?

5. Gain? What’s gain, posted my work online so we can understand and use…If everything about money and selfishness then I already created a website to sell my product to thousands people. Members contacted me in here to build the cable for them, the cost only cover for material, my time …do your math. If you are in my seat, do you really do it yourself for members with that cost???

Someone use Tacomaworld logo or name then always have courtesy to contact admins first for consensual/permission…If I take someone work for monetary gains then I will ensure to have courtesy to contact the owner/author first for permission …

All the facts that listed above happened in this forum, it is in black and white… you can request Admins to pull records if you are not satisfy with the facts above.

Have you ever design something that you know can get thousands dollar easily and just give away online for free??? Have you contribute something for this community getting better? Have you still protecting this beloved country???

I just done with designed a circuit that can displays CAN/OBD info into head unit (engine code, transmission temps, any info that in the port …etc). The material only cost less than $10.00 to build…And I also finally can backup Navigation Micro Sd card into an off-shelf Micro Sd card. This method allows me to keep OEM Navigation Micro SD card at home for backup and use that off-shelf card for daily use. Yes… you read it right…Was planning to posted details, schematic on TW for members to use … NOW ????

And one last thing, (Yes, last thing … I will not post anything after this facts) hacker??? What that mean??? Why calling name when you not even fully understand the word you are using…
