Lift/suspension advice for 2" lift

Whats up yall. I'm installing an ARB summit on my 16 Taco currently. It is bone stock. I would like to lift it 2" and would like to improve the suspension for a little better ride. I don't do a ton of major offroading or rock crawling but I live and work in the Mendocino National Forest so I am offroad all the time and am usually riding on washboarded forest service roads. I plan on adding some weight to it through customizations but not a HUGE amount. I'm a newb in customizations. I was reccomended to do the Old Man Emu suspension kit that adds 2" but was curious if anyone had any insights on that or other coilover suspension or leaf packs or what....its a lot LOL.

Im going to be doing 5100's, Wheelers Off Road T2 (Eibach) coils which are rated for 2" and can be used conjunction with 5100s, setting 0. The rear, im going with a Deaver AAL. I don't plan on adding tons of weight on my truck or any crazy wheeling. From everything ive been told and read, its the best value for your money for a basic suspension lift rather than crappy spacers/blocks

 

@HeadStrong Off-Road is thee best. 2in lift with 5100s, ome 887 and a Deaver aal. Best bang due the buck. Then do a cmc, ucas and 33s and be done. We all get there eventually.

 

That looks awesome and would probably look amazing in voodoo blue. But can you translate what you just said into "new guy" so my slower brain an understand it

 

CMC= cab mount chop
Ucas = upper control arms

 

aal= add a leaf, in the leaf spring

IMO you can’t go wrong Bilstein 5100’s or Eibach great kits. Great budget lift. I personally have 5100’s 2” lift and 1.5” AAL. NO complaints

It sounds like you should research the various aftermarket coilover and leaf pack upgrades. If off-road performance is more important than payload capacity, I would shy away from anything that increases the spring rate of your springs. Here are some places to start reading.

Don’t forget to check out Ironman as well! The foam cell pros are fully adjustable and the stage 1 comes with a new leaf pack.
There are lots of choices and depending on what you want to spend it’ll give you more or less. While I went with the IM, you should talk to Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road, tell her what you want, give her a cc number (hopefully yours) and put on whatever she sends you. Good luck!

 

I’m in the same boat seems like all the affordable kits just make it ride worse. Mines a sport so I already feel every bump in the road as it is.

 

So leave it stock then.

 

Id encourage you to do more research. Ride quality is subjective and depends on your preferences as welll as what you use your truck for. Besides it is a truck at the end of the day, not a Cadillac so it’s gonna ride like one. I hear more good things about ride quality when people opt for suspension lifts that utilize coils for lift rather than preload or spacer set up. Also your tire/wheel set up is a big factor, if you get more wheel and less tire, ride quality is going to suffer. Buy a set of good tires, stick to 16 or 17” wheels, quality struts/shocks/coils, and leaf packs are dependent on your utility. One example, don’t buy a heavy duty leaf pack if your bed is usually empty or don’t tow.

The lift won't soften your ride, and some bad ones can make it stiffer. Better struts/shocks can give you some stability and control on washboard, but the height won't make a difference unless we are talking whoops or worried about bottoming out.

Personally, for washboard, I think you're better off spending money on good tires and onboard air. How much you air down depends on the road, your vehicle and you. Then air down (just a bit) when your on the washboard. Running 35-40 PSI on washboard will rattle your teeth. You don't need to air way down (you do not want to loose a bead), just a enough to allow the sidewall to flex a bit. That makes a huge differences, just softens everything.

 

Just remember to air down for the speed bumps bro
