    Hi,

I was just asked if I changed the fuel filter and went looking for it. I saw a video which showed an inline filter and I tried to trace my lines from the tank to the engine and could not find it. It looks as if I have a three , I think, lines going from the tank to the engine. Where is the fuel filter and do I need to change it ? Can anyone explain why mine is different and does not appear to have that inline filter. Or did I not search long enough for it.

    Thanks,

    Lou

    Miles on truck?

Typical filter issues are power loss at highway speeds (when more fuel is required). Is that happening?

The inline filter you see is most likely for the 3.4 V6 motor, they put those in an easy to access area by the frame rail.

Your 2.4 is going to have it located in the same place as my 2.7, which is bolted to the block underneath the intake manifold on the driver side. Major Pain In The Ass to change

I have had no problems with fuel starvation. It's a new purchase and it's got around 99,000 miles. I was just curious as to why I don't appear to have an inline fuel filter under the truck. I had a 93 Isuzu that had an inline filter near the back. It became clogged and was causing gas flow issues. In Texas on Highway 10. A real adventure. Coasting off the freeway onto the nearest exit ramp.

Okay, I saw that Video too. Did not look like fun. Sounds like one of those parts you don't fix unless it's broke. Thank you !!

I need to replace it since it's got 99,000 miles and I doubt it has ever been changed and it should be replaced every thirty thousand. Not real sure about the relocation but I dred having to do what people are doing in order to replace it.

I agree with @Abeyancer You only replace it every so often. Yeah it's a pain, but it's tucked in there for a reason, just like the 3.4L version, and many other models are hidden on the inboard side of the frame: to protect it in a crash.

    See posts 39-42.

I've found a number of threads that explain how to replace it based on where it's located and I guess I'll give it a shot. Funny , I was just inside that wheel well changing out my starter which was no piece of cake so I guess I'm ready for another challenge. Seems that a lot of people have been able to do it. I'm just hoping I can minimize what needs removing.

    Hi,

Got another question. I'm looking for the correct filter and I'm seeing two versions that are said to work for the 2.4litre engine.
One has a couple of brackets at each end and the the other does not. Can somone tell me which one is correct. It's mounted under the intake manifold.

    Thanks
