If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
It was available as an optional "add-on" for pre-09 models.

.....^^ THIS statement is wrong... not you BensonX, I believe you it's an option. BUT not EVERY Tacoma has VSC or TRAC as he wrote in his statement in red. As I said my Tacoma does not.

No need to get all defensive, were just trying to get correct info...

Oh, lol. Sorry man  I thought you were referring to my post.

I agree, correct info and solid facts are few and far between sometimes. That's why I've been reading like crazy to determine how I can mod my ABS/TRAC systems to work how I want it...

Yes, if taken out of context. Any person searching could come across it though (lol people search). I'm here because some of the concepts of the abs disable are the same.

Hey anyone know which wire to connect to if you have a non TRD.
Does have the sr5 package though.
I did this on my buddy's '12 TRD OR and it worked like a charm, but I'm trying to do it for a friend with a 2010 non TRD. The IB1 harness doesn't have a blue an yellow wire.

I actually have that exact mod done to my 08. Works great! I just hate having to cycle the engine when I'm done froadin.
I was just wondering if there's a wire I can tap into like the blue and yellow locker wire instead of interrupting the brake to and module wire.

can't you do either of these ones:

    • Caveman Method
    • CROM's Method (tailored to suite Non-OR models)
not sure if lack of VSC would make a difference for you. Check out your plug behind the driver's side fuse/jockey box.

The GREEN one is what you want to splice the switch into.

The green wire on the driver side kick panel plug when run through a switch can turned on and off on the fly without recycling ignition....2009 TRD Sport with VSC.

On 2009 TRD Sport with VSC this wire is green. I cut it and ran it through a dash switch..it can be cycled on and off on the fly and cuts VSC and ABS...works like a charm.

Okay this slightly scares me. I tried cutting a green wire, the one where the blue and yellow would be, (not sure if it's the one on the caveman thread, still gotta check that thread out) and it ended up causing all kinds of problems.
No fogs, no speedometer, abs and e brake light both on.
Figured out that a fuse had blown in the cab.
I'm guessing that green wire doesn't need the ground power source LOL

I'll look at those threads and then retry it.

I just tried the Caveman method and Crom's method (with Milowillis green wire). Either one I did it kept popping the IGN2 10A fuse. After going through 4 fuses, I gave up for now and did the YWM (which worked flawlessly).

    I have an '11 Sport v6 4x4 and VSC

Just a hunch without looking at a diagram you may be grounding the wrong side. I did the same and popped the IGN1 No.2 fuse twice.

I thought that too, but swapped it around and popped another fuse. I know the wiring, ground, and switch were good b/c we successfully tested CROM's mod on a buddies '06 OR with the same switch and wiring I put together right after we gave up on mine

Dude, read the last 2 pages. Milowilli said he successfully did this mod on an '09 sport with VSC by using the Green wire (instead of the Blue/Yellow trace wire on the OR).

Milowilli, did you still run a ground off switch?
