new member here. driving a 2013 tacoma sport DC. I have the ability to drive to the nearby toytec store in Colo. Talked to Jeff and really appreciate his help and expertise. I went there to purchase OME but after looking and discussing, settled for ultimate adjustible coil overs and AAL. Installed them the next day and really like the ride. They came pre set for 2 1/2 however after install the drivers side was 3/8 inch lower, couple of turns and sitting perfect. really like the adjustability, and very good highway around town ride. Can't wait to get in the hills.

One thing people dont realize with the toytec coilovers is that they are NON REBUILDABLE and....They are the same price as Sway away 2.0's and only a couple hundred bucks cheaper than any 2.5'' high end rebuildable coilover.

Knowing this, why the hell would anyone buy toytec coilovers?

No doubt they are well made (they are bilsteins) but once they are worn out...fuck...they are worn out.

OK, well I am still very happy with my purchase and performance of Toytec. When they do wear out, if they ever do, I will be ready to purchase something new. Bilstein/ToyTec Coil Overs carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty for defects in material and workmanship.

Yes they are not rebuildable but lets look at the facts, SAW charges $65 per shock to rebuild them. You need to pay shipping both ways and you are without your coilovers for 1-2 weeks plus shipping time. With the TT coilovers, they are built around a 5100. When it goes, buy a new pair of shocks for $200 and swap them out. Done.

    and???

    ''let's look at the facts:"

when you bought your coilovers, more than likely you removed a stock set?? The sensible person would keep those for when the c/o's need rebuilt...

bottom line is the toytec coilovers are a rip off. They are $200 bilstein 5100's wearing fancy clothes...they dont even have heim joints, they have rubber bushings...

My point is why in the hell would someone buy toytec coilovers for $750 when they are obviously inferior to other suspension systems that are the same price, or just slightly more expensive.

So if you are running 33's, are you going to take them off and swap back to stock tires too while your SAW's are being serviced?

Also, how long do you think a heim joint is going to last in a snowy salty climate compared to a bushing?

My stock shocks had a spacer on them.

And how long do you think a piece of metal wrapped in rubber will last in a snowy, icy, salted, climate? Probably about the same.

Plus, I live in Florida, so that is none of my concern.

I dont see how you can argue a high end coilover vs the toytec coilover when differences are quite obvious.

My problem with the toytecs isn't really their quality..its their price for what you are getting.

Not everyone is going to have a lift backup like yours. My stock shocks were completely blown with 170k miles when i put coilovers on so i got rid of them. The bushings however were in fine shape. A heim isn't going to last that long.

My main point is that having a rebuildable shock doesn't automatically make it better.

Not really sure why we are arguing about this here since the OME's aren't rebuildable either. And yet i don't see you saying they are a ripoff.

hi, after reading all of this, i am more confused than ever before. i do about 90% on road driveing and the off raod that i do is gravel or sand. if you can call it off raoding. that is where i live now. im in the army so there is no telling where i might move to and what im going to have to drive through. my taco has 120k on it with factory everything. my struts and shocks are flat and my leafes rainbow with no weight on them, obviously i a new suspension. my budget is about 1k, could go up or down like a hundred or so. as for the front, i dont plan on putting a heaby bumper or really tall tires. i would like about 2 in of lift so i dont have to replace my UCA. as for my back. i do want to put a tool box full of tools, a camper topper with rack and a tire swing rear bumper. i dont really care what the lift hight is as long as it is higher than stock and but my nose isnt in the ground. so if any body could help with that that would be great.

i am a total noooobie when it comes to off roading so please dont judge lol. i see people run OME springs with Bilstiens 5100 adjustable in front with a spacers. and 5100 or the next hight bilstiens in back. is mixing the brands a good idea or a bad one? also maybe some one can tell me. what is ( if any body knows) the difference between the all-pro leafe kit, OME leafe kit, and wheeler leafe kit, is it just a name brand like nike or is there actualy perfomance changes.

Here is what I just did for my wife's FJ, it is very similar to the tacoma lift and will do the same thing when I lift my Taco.
Go to Amazon, (BTW it is the cheapest place to buy this stuff!)

    Get yourself the following:
Specialty Products Company(SPC) UCA (Light Racing) $400!
    Bilstein 5100's front & Rear $350
Procomp springs $150 front Or OME/ebach from toytec for $165. The procomp ones are true 3" lift in the front.
AAL $85 or Dakar $221 each side ($442 total)

The best thing is all this stuff is available for PRIME free shipping!

This brings a total lift with everything needed for 3" to $985, you can go with full suspension upgrade including the Dakar's for as little as $1342. Overall a great setup.

I am still loving the ToyTec ULK, but my rear Billies failed. I now have the OME nitros and the ride is great again. I can't tell if it is any better than the Billies were new, but right now the ride is great in the rear.

This is the second set of Billies to fail me. Granted, I had about 40,000 miles on them. The first set to fail me were extended travels on my K5 Blazer. The end actually unscrewed on one of them. I think I'm done with the Billies.

Up front, the Eibach/Billie combo seems to be holding up well. Even under the weight of the ARB/RC8 combo and spirited driving, they still handle well!

thx for the info. will the dakars hold up to a fully loaded tool box with extra crap, two bikes and two 10 gallan fuel cans full. and a topper with no to little sag? cause if so than that would be perfect.

Can anyone who has had rear AAL and switched to Dakars share their highway ride comfort carrying no weight. I will be putting in a new leaf pack soon. I have heard lots of positives about Dakars and payload but curious about comfort when not hauling.

When I bought my truck, it had an AAL with the non-tsb springs. All it did was lift it, the ride was not so bad. I love the ride and handling with the Dakars. I drive quite spirited and I live in the curves and hills. All is good. I don't think it is too stiff a ride, but it is a little stiffer than stock. Again, the ride is fantastic. :D I think you will like them!;)

I went from aal to dakars. AAl felt like riding over potholes compared to the caddy comfort of the dakars...Remember bumps/obstacles hit your rear tires after your front so even if you get a smooth front riding setup it still wont mean a darn if your rear end rides like @ss. I didnt really enjoy my front toytec's until I switched my rears over and than I was just like " I should have done this from the beginning "....oh and the aal sagged over time quickly.
