I've been starting to plan out my next major upgrades and was looking for some fellow AZ insight. I would post this on the BS thread but it's usually too busy and I have a lot I'm wondering about. Really just looking for a consolidated thread of how every ones rig is set up.

    These are my mod thoughts:
    - installing a cb radio, not sure how to wire or install but Jamie showed mat123's front shackle that I need and he makes a good mount for the bed antenna. let me know if you have any tips

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ry-shackle-replacement-off-road-tow-hook.html

    - I want to replace my nfab steps with sliders. Had a close call this weekend and I just don't think they're strong enough if I crash down on a rock. What do you guys run? Weld on right? Who did you have install yours?

    - any tips for front bumpers? Possibly winch combo? I also might just do a light bar i like the avid one alot. Need to replace my stock skid plate.

    - what kind of lights do you have? Probably looking at one of the led light bars. Worth having out here?

    - who has/does not have their sway bar. Mines still on, I do alot of daily driving and don't want to throw off the balance too much. But.. I think it was getting in the way this weekend.

Here's my recent pics - post your current setup up - answer a question - dont answer anything. Either way - work will be done to the truck in the near future :D which could be after I pay for a wedding so probably no pics thatt soon

    NICE! :)

I will give you Brandon's # from Avid if you want. They charge 250$ + 50$ for weld on install for the standard straight slider w/o kick-out. They use 1 3/4" steel vs the typical 1 1/4 used by other fabricators. Great sliders and you support local business!
+20$ if you want the kick-out like mine

    EDITED FOR MORE DETAIL :)

Lights are 20" LEd bar, 2 RI Dually's(not installed yet) and 2 RI Dually D2's with Vision X strobe system

50k miles of no sway bar and have never regretted not taking it off

I highly recommend beefing up the spindle

Those look great man I'd probably go with em. Always happy to support local business and I keep reading good things about Brandon.

Guessing the 'kick-out' is the extra tubing that extends them about about a foot? does that basically offer you more protection?

All pro'd out! Thanks for contributing bud :D Are those D2's installed where your fog lights go?

I don't know much about the spindles. What will change by beefing them up? Is it just like extra strength to go along with my extended coilovers? Will it kick out my wheels more? Does it help when you move the sway bar? And in your 50k miles did you ever have a real bad 'o shit' moment?

Lol Yeah i have the d2's plugged into the fogs and the normal dually's will be reverse lights
Makes them way stronger, dont have to worry about bending them, thats all it is.

A few oh shit moments and the truck stayed planted, i have a ton of body roll being sua in the rear, but when i was soa it was fine

Good to know I'll add to my mod list that would be no good to bend.

Where did you get your Fab work done?? Front fenders look great and I feel like they would help me alot because I don't really plan on lifting the truck any higher. Was it costly to have it repainted etc?

I use the to step on to climb in & out of my bed and they add protection from lots of hazards (especially during some serious mall crawling)

All pro bumper with light hoop.
    All pro skid plate
All pro transfer case skid plate (Highly recommend it, its saved my ass way too many times)
I pulled my sway bar almost a year ago and I am so glad I pulled it off. I pull a lot of trailers for dirt bikes and boats and other crap and I have no problem doing 80mph on the highway with no sway bar. But I also have 2.5 x 8 C/O's with 650lb springs.

Light wise, I have 1 40inch LED bar on the roof, Rigid dually D2s wired to the fogs, 2 7inch HID and 2 4inch HID.

For rock sliders, get weld on if you plan on really using them. If they are for a more looks, bolt on is fine.

Soon to have- Avid rock sliders, All pro rear bumper, rear locker and spindle gussets

Hahaha you and your mall crawls. I think I'll get the kick out, will double as steps for the wife.

Thats an Avid bumper?? Looks great haven't even seen it yet. I wonder if they have one fitted to the 2012+ yet. What year is yours?

Do you feel like that one LED bar is all you really need?

    Thanks Michael.

Ya I think I'll pull the sway bar off - could use a little extra articulation and a little more clearance in the front. It seems like if i upgrade the skid I'll need to anyway. I think my c/o are 650 lbs too so I should be good.

How much did you drop on your All-pro stuff if you don't mind me asking? Do you have any other armor besides the transfer case?

Sickkk lighting setup. Can you only fit the 40" on the roof usually? and ya I definitely want the weld on/plan on using them as much as I can.

Do you feel like all the extra protection adds a lot of weight to the rig, or do you not really notice it that much?

I can let you know about the price later today when I get home from work. I bought a bunch of other stuff from them, so they cut me a deal. But when I bought it, it was on a 2 pallet crate at 700lbs. So I'm sure you can imagine shipping cost me my left kidney. The armor weighs a lot but I will take that over busting open my transfer case, diff or any other stuff that is exposed. I will eventually build a plate for my gas tank and build some other stuff. I'm moving to CO in the end of August for college, so I'm trying to get all my stuff done before I leave.

The 40inch bar is the best way to go for the roof. The 50 is too wide and will overhang; it just looks funky.

For weight, I couldn't really tell a difference with steering or handling. The bumper is heavy but worth it. I've hit deer, javalina, and coyote before with the bumper and it has held up every time. (My truck is road kill magnet, not sure why.)

Jeeez ya I'm sure shipping $$ was not fun. I wonder if any of the shops around here carry them to avoid that.

Dude - you have to be kidding about hitting all those animals holy shitt! I'm guessing that comes along with running more trails. Let me know if you head out anytime soon before you head off to school. Thanks for all the info - the 40" is a bit bigger then i probably wanna go for because I'll be mounting in the front.

It was cooling checking out your pics though cus I could see the with/without bumper comparison. Surprised how well it swaps out without any fab work and i bet you get a lot better clearance now. Thanks for the info

Yeah man, sounds good! And the sad part about hitting all the animals is that is was on the road.

Yes, those are Avid sliders right before I had them welded on.
Here is the link over to the Avid page here on TW. All the contact info is listed there. Just give them a call or email when your ready to place the order. They are super busy so expect 2 weeks time for completion. I just noticed that you are in CA, price will be a bit different for you man. Unless you want to drive to AZ :)

    My two cents:
    - Yea next time I see you I'll have to show my truck and explain my thoughts on CB's, mounts, etc. I'm actually running this antenna mount: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/fa...8-cb-antenna-flag-mount-through-tailgate.html but will be switching to this one soon: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/ba...2-bamf-2nd-gen-tailgate-cb-antenna-mount.html
    - My thoughts on my ARB bumper, and plate bumpers in general: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/282481-your-bumper-preference-4.html#post7112483
    - CBI D.O.M. sliders, welded on by Sierra Expeditions. The sliders are great and Kyle did a great job on the install, but if I had to do it again, I might look to save myself some cash and time (CBI stuff isn't cheap and their leadtime is 4-6 weeks) and go to AVID.
    - For lights I've got 3 of these on the bumper: http://www.alternativeoffroad.com/HIDX-7-HID-Off-Road-Light_p_8.html and a pair of these on hood/winshield brackets: http://jasperoffroad.com/index.php/led-lighting/small-led-pods/3-square-led-light.html. I'm completely sold on LED lights, whether they be round, square, lightbar, etc. Not as impressed with my cheapo HID's.
    - No sway bar currently. Honestly if my truck had to go back to a DD, I would throw the sway bar back on, but in its current toy form, it'll probably stay off for increased travel.
