Getting stuck and going to 4wd...is that 2 separate bets, or a single combined deal? I won't say have any skill offroading, but I feel like I can do decently well. I have surprised several people with what my truck has done, both here on TW and out in the real world where people are dumbasses.

It will have to happen sooner than later, otherwise it is going to be meeting me in Spokane.
You could fib a little to your work, and tell them that a close friend or relative of yours in the military got orders to ship out first of Feb and that is the last chance you have to see him for at least a year.

Man its raining like a sum-bitch out there right now. I'm gonna try to hunker down in the shop tonight and ovoid outside work at all costs.

Thanks Ben! I'll check these out. I sure hope I can make it.

I'm not opposed to buying a round - you never know - I might need to anyway. So I better start getting used to the idea.

I'm open to this. It depends on what happens with work Sat night (I work in Seattle). If I have to work till 3 or 4 in the morning, I'm out. If I work till 1 or 2, I might drive over right after work and take a nap in the truck - this would save me the extra driving back to Bothell=more sleep.
More than likely I'll be off by midnight or earlier - then I'd be up for a caravan. It all depends on when the ship is done; and I won't know until that Saturday afternoon.

I just dug out an old Radio Sh*t CB and mag-mount antenna that I had for a relocating roadtrip 20 years ago. We had one in the uHaul & one in the chase car. It worked well. I'll do a temp install and then get a real one this year some time.

From anybody else's experience, would it be beneficial at this time of year to have a chainsaw at the Tahuya run? I have one ready to go at home I can throw into my truck if anybody thinks we will need it. A chainsaw can be considered recovery gear...recovering the trail from fallen trees blocking the way.

You gotta be careful about mounting a cb in the middle cubby, it's very shallow.
I wouldn't do glove box, mainly because its really hard to reach over to the controls.
I don't know of really anywhere in Washington for tuning. If you are willing to buy a tuner, we can try tuning ourselves.
I can't think of a use for a chainsaw, but you are welcome to bring it. There's a greater need for several hours with a gas powered hedge trimmer.

Pretty sure somebody either closer to Oregon or in Oregon has a tuner.

I don't have the gas powered hedge trimmer, only electric, but through some wiring with extension cords, I could take a few of the V6 trucks with the factory inverters and get enough power to run my electric hedge trimmer. If you say the chainsaw isn't worth it, I will leave it at home. Gives less chance of it being crushed by my giant pulley. I think it weighs about 80lbs and is probably about 20 ton rated, maybe higher. I doubt I will ever use it for more than a weight.

Oregon has D&R, but the guy think's he's a demigod and you have to install things exactly how he wants or he does a soup nazi.

It doesn't recess far enough for mounting and ends up looking like ass, or you have a big hole you have now cut, and nothing to fill it.
Try taking the pocket out and testing how the cb would fit in the empty spot, and again in the pocket. Make sure you have enough space in the rear for the coax to attach.

I'm coming from Olympia, is there another place I can meet you guys so that I don't have to travel to Belfair? Maybe at the entrance to the orv park? From the map I'm looking at it looks as if belfair is after and I would drive past it then back to it.

Caravan with Mike (Chickenmunga) and Ben (Benson X) as they are both also coming out of Olympia.

I am coming out of Lake Stevens, so it is an even longer drive for me to get there, and I still plan to meet at Belfair Safeway.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Here's a link to a guy that installed his in the glovebox. Not the best, but gives you an idea:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/38430-how-install-cb-radio-my-version.html

There are few pics I've seen of guys that mount their radio under the HVAC controls. It's a PITA to find them, but here's a couple threads to check out:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/260479-cb-mount-storage-bin.html

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/70208-cb-radio-install-your-thoughts-please.html

There's this guy (ag4892) too. He installed in the exact locaiton I wanted to, but has no info. about how...maybe PM him for ideas :notsure:

    Some other good ideas here:

The Safeway is actually on the way to Tahuya, no matter where you're coming from, since you have to drive around the inlet to get there. You can either take I-5, or Hwy 101. There's about a 5 minute difference between the 2. I might take 101 this time for a more "scenic" route.

    Via HWY 101: http://goo.gl/maps/dskuk
    Via I-5: http://goo.gl/maps/L2MZh

    WHEN: Sunday, 1/26
    WHERE: Tahuya
MEETING AREA: Safeway - Belfair @ 9:00am, on the road by 9:30am
PASS REQUIRED: Discover Pass required* - can be purchased online, or at the Belfair Ranger's Station
RECOMMENDED GEAR: Any recovery gear you have, tow-points, CB (or at least 2-Way radios), lunch, camera.
    ATTENDEES:

Anyone have a set of hubcentric wheels spacers they are looking to sell? 1.25 preferably. Mine aren't hubcentric and they drive me nuts.

I'm down to convoy, and I'm sure Mike would be game. We can find a spot to meet in-town and go from there...just depends on which route you guys want to take (I-5 vs 101).

Tallon might want to join us too, since he's coming from Chehalis. If Donnie is going, he lives in Shelton, and we could meet him on the way up 101 too.

Just throwing some ideas out there.
