On my 2004 base SR5, it has fog lights but there is no switch in the cab to turn them on. I know I can't be this dumb but the owners manual doesn't even explain how to operate them.

Nope. I've tried pulling out the headlight knob with both the parking lights on as well as the headlights on with no luck.

I didn't think 1st gens had factory fog lights?

If they are add on fog lights from a previous owner, I'd start tracing the wires from the lights through the engine bay to where ever they end up. Maybe a hidden switch, or maybe the previous owner just tapped off the high beam circuit and they come on with those?

Tracing someone else's rat's nest wiring sucks, but you'll end up with your answer sooner

That could be why there's nothing listed in the owners manual. Looks I may be adding a switch if thats the case.

Can you post a picture of what lenses you are referring too? Those lights under the chrome/metal part of the bumper in the black plastic part are turn signals, although they really look like fog lights. Put your hazard lights on and stand in front of your truck to double check.

No 1st gen truck came with fogs.

the "fogs" i bet your talking about are actually our blinkers ;)

the corner lights are the marker lights only.

You can relocate the blinker bulbs to the corner lights or rewire the corner lights as blinkers and then redo the blinkers as a sort of fog..but they would never be that bright.

Nah. The dumbest dumb guy came into the shop I used to work for and told me his left headlight was burned out. I looked up the #; selected the bulb and had him pay for it. I went out and started to install it and he says "no, not that; the headlight" and proceeds to show me that the driver's side map light had burnt out.

Don't worry about it. You have to start somewhere. I've learned a ton about mine in the last 2 years...and yet I know nothing. :D

    Welcome to TW, OP!

This is the thread I used when converting my blinkers into (what are more) driving lights (than fog lights).

The dumbest question is the one not asked. No worries. Make some room in the corner, and a group buy on dunce caps. Your not alone in no way shape or form.

President Lincolns quote of "It's better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt" does not always apply.

No problem man, when that body style first came out in 2000, I thought those were fog lights too, until I saw them in action.
