The bed cap is what's killing your fuel economy unfortunately. It essentially gives your pickup truck the aerodynamics of an SUV.

Now that I only drive 5 miles to work, I'm getting around or just under 20 mpg so my average will keep decreasing a bit. Still it's not too bad for a 4200-pound 4x4 in the snowbelt without intentionally hypermiling. 90% of this graph is on cruise control.

All numbers prior to the N30 speedo gear install that corrected the odometer were adjusted down accordingly (that's why it says added dec 2014, I edited the original mile data in libreoffice and added as a different vehicle after I goofed trying to upload to my original one). It was 4% fast with the stock N29 and factory tire size which artificially inflated mpg. Current best 26.3 mpg, lifetime avg 22.8 mpg over 103 tanks of gas

    Greetings,

My truck is a 2015 4WD AC 5 speed SR5. The truck has about 8000 miles on it and I picked it up in mid August.

My drive to work is 72 miles each way. All but 4 miles is highway.

I fill up every three days and my best tank so far is 26.4 and my low is 22.7. The main difference in fuel mileage is traffic issues on the mass turnpike.

The truck has rear Firestone air bag set up and a K&N air filter.

I am not familiar with "corrections" but that is calculated off trip A.

    Best regards,

    Joe

Is your truck stock? What speed are you driving? Asking because when I do mostly highway I drive around 65mph and don't get better than 23. And 23 is kinda hard to get haha mostly 22.5

I thought our speedometer and odometer are 2 separate units for some reason? My speedo is off. I keep buying 245's for tires.

    Greetings,

My truck is completely stock with the exception of a K and N air filter, Firestone rear air bag suspension (Manual, no on board air, set at 5-10 PSI) and a tonneau cover.

I drive between 65 and 70 and occasionally get to 75 -80 to pass or clear traffic. I some times throw the truck in neutral down steep hills.

If I drive 70-80, the whole week, my mileage drops to 23. Remember in an average week, I drive 720 miles with 680 miles of interstate.

Easy throttle helps with mileage and I have noticed that on my motorcycles more than my cars....

    Best regards,

    Joe

With 245/75-R16 tires my speedo was 10% too high and the odometer was 4% fast.

With the N30 gear it's something like 5-6% high for the speedo and about 0.6% fast on the odometer. Yes, Toyota actually programmed the needle to go up faster than it should... it's not an offset problem with the needle.

I have a 2001 2.7L regular cab 4X4 5-speed manual. 265/70r16 AT tires. No camper shell but I have a tool box with about 80 lbs. of crap in it. Engine and all drivetrain oils are synthetic. Here is my MPG for every tank since I got my "new" 1st gen:

    Tank 1: Shell 91 octane, 90% city, 10% hwy, pre-deckplate: 20.85 MPG
    Tank 2: Shell 91 octane, 10% city, 20% off-road, 70% hwy, pre-deckplate: 21.10 MPG
Tank 3: Shell 91 octane 85% city, 15% hwy, deckplate open: 22.95 MPG
    Tank 4: Shell 88 octane 70% city, 10% off-road, 20% hwy, deckplate open: 22.85 MPG
    Tank 5: Sinclair non-ethanol 88 octane: 70% city, 10% off-road, 20% hwy, deckplate open: 24.65 MPG

Winter gas blend decreasing my mpg? I was averaging 24-25 mpg July into early Sept. Since then I've been averaging about 21.5-23 mpg.

Excuse my ignoranve, but what do you mean when you say "deckplate open"? what deckplate are you talking about? I'm interested because it seems like it improved your mpg

Improvement from last tankful, probably due to a lot more highway (interstate at 55 mph) mileage.

Jesus Christ, he turned that 4 cyl into a beast. I don't see myself doing that though, my plan is to put 200k miles on this truck (I'm at 116k right now) and then get a brand new one, 6 cyl.
