Hi guys. I'm new here but have been following this page for a while. I recently picked up a 2016 Base SR5 Tacoma(QC/short bed) and is wondering if any of you can recommend a descent 3-4" leveling kit that will last but won't break the bank. I'll be using it as a daily driver with some weekend off roading. Any leads will help. Thanks in advance.

I'm starting to learn a lot more about electrical now. Does splicing into the green wire mean attaching another wire in the middle of the green wire and run it to the fog relay? Or does it mean cut the green wire, attach the cut end to the new wire, and run the green/wire extension from the plug to the fog relay?

 

If your are splicing another wire to it, then you just use th quick splice and attach a wire to it, so essentially you would just be connecting a wire to it, just to get the voltage from that wire to the new wire.

Splice means connect them together. Cut means cut and use one end.

 

Ah I see. Do you need the quick splice thing? Can I wrap another wire around the existing wire and solder it?

 

Solder and shrink tube would be best. Especially the marine grade shrink tube with adhesive inside. That would help prevent corrosion if you deal with snow and road salt. Those quick splices are quick n easy, but they leave copper exposed to the elements.

 

You dont need it, but it makes things simpler, and i can be removed later on if needed, with minimal damage to original wire.

I didn't either until I went to use some I'd just grabbed from a store. I noticed something bubbling out from the end when I heated it. At first I thought I'd melted the insulation, but then I read the packaging later.

I inadvertently picked some of this up at Harbor Freight the other day, and have to say I like it better than regular because of the adhesive that comes out.

 

I suspect I did the same thing! lol After using it I have to wonder why you would ever use the other kind. haha

Ok..ok. Maybe people can benifit from this idea. So I've been looking online at sunglass vehicle holders. For instance like visor clip style ones. Most I found had bad reviews on Amazon. Then I searched camo sunglass cases. Cool but I passed on those as well. Then I started thinking.... What do I have around the house that won't cost any money? BAM!! It hit me!

I immediately went to my B.O.B. gear. Pulled it off one of my packs and presto! Works like a charm and no additional cost spent! ---Freebie from my Pops
They are Condor molle mod 6 straps ((6" ones)) and work great. Goes with the theme of the truck perfectly! They come in blk, tan, od and grey I believe. Can get a 4pk for like $5! The glasses pushed to the front fit nice and snug. (See pic)

And yes, I DO NOT buy expensive sunglasses. Lol $5 dollar Home Depot gems. (I wk there) Would rather spend my money on guns, ammo, lots of ammo and truck stuff haha. I'm sure paracord would wk as well. (Got A LOOOOT of that stuff laying around lol) Just make it tight and melt ends. (((edit Just thought of this. Maybe I'll make a paracord "bracelet" big enough to fit the visor. Boom doubles as a sunglass holder and have some backup cord in survival situation)))
