I'll have to check out gear wrench.

I love old tools but by no means am a big collector,I have a few though.

Fflloyd you got a link for torque specs that's reliable? I'll be doing suspension soon.

See my signature there is a light to the service manuals and it has the specs. Also there is a thread on here with that!

Search here first there is a thread with all the torque specs and it'll beat shuffling all through the service manuals but they can help too with disassembly and assembly if you need them.

The second gen has a thread specific to all torque values. Most should apply to 3rd gen as well.

Not planning on using it much. In the rare occasion I do use it, will get strapped/bungee corded up top on the rack, mud and all.

Another spontaneous purchase at Tractor Supply. I've decided to go the bulk brush-on protective paint route for all things black on my truck.

Rustoleum Farm Implement Low Gloss Black, 1 Gallon.

Very curious how the finish will come out with brush vs spray!

I'll test it out first on the visible areas (bumpers.) But the sliders, skids and undercarriage will definitely get this brush-on stuff.

Switching the Jerry can mounting hardware to SS. The rust at the attachment bolt contact points is starting to bother me.

Weak DS radiator/core support cracking/buckling under the weight of the starting battery.
Hood looked slightly raised on the DS and flutters at speed.
For peace of mind, I installed a pair of AeroCatch Extreme 120-4000 Bonnet Pins

Thanks for install help from @stairgod

Yellow pencil would have been an ideal location but the support member angles downwards too much.

Red pencil points to the OEM location of the hood rubber stopper. Bad location since Jon suggested it was too close to the fender and the core support flexes too much.

Pen points at core support crack.

I chose a spot to the right of the headlight mounting tab.

Lay out some blue tape to protect the truck finish. Mark and cut.
    IMG_2515.jpg

Nice clean cut. Drilled holes for the mounting bolts.
I shortened a metal cutting jigsaw blade so it wouldn't hit the underside supports of the hood.
Pull tape, clean raw edges with a solvent and paint for rust protection.
    IMG_2518.jpg

After paint dries, run a bead of silicone and bolt down.
    IMG_2534.jpg

Here's how it looks with the pin partially engaged.
    IMG_2535.jpg

    Both sides done.

Are you going to do anything about the cracking core support?

Not quite sure. Researching how to reinforce the area.

The "wings" of the core support that attach to the fenders are easily twisted. After attaching my first set of hood pins, I noticed cracking where the wing attached to the main support. I ended up cutting some 1/8" plate to follow the contour of the wing, and plug welded it in below the wing. Hood pin now sandwiches it to the wing. Then I bent a piece of 1/8x 1" plate and welded it to the back of the wing(vertical orientation).
After a while I noticed new cracks forming where that reinforcement met the core support. Bent a piece and welded to the then together better. Luckily still no cracks there. I have yet to do it, but I have 1/4" pencil rod that I am going to bend and weld onto the front of the wing to possibly help with the newest cracks at the hood pin hole location. I know eventually I will end up fabbing a core support like Alex has.

Lotos LTP5000D Pilot Arc Dual Voltage Plasma Cutter.
Max rated clean cut for mild steel is 1/2", so should suit my home DIY use nicely.

Packaged nicely, arrived with no visible damage.
    IMG_2582.jpg

Torch hose has a nice blue nylon case. Came with a couple extra nozzles and electrodes. I bought an set of extra electrodes/nozzles/caps (extra bag on lower right.)

Supposed to automatically change voltage 110/220V. Plug appears to be a NEMA L5-30P twist lock. I'll need to change it to a NEMA 6-50P (example to right of the provided plug) to work with my 240V garage receptacles.
    IMG_2583.jpg

Comes with an air pressure regulator and oil/water separator attached to rear of unit.
Instruction manual appears to be well written, with no serious flaws in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.

I did find a possible error with the instructions on the use of the torch, but I need to confirm before bringing it up.
    IMG_2584.jpg

Have never used one of these or even seen it being used. So this is gonna be a good learning experience for me.

Will try it soon and report back.
