5sped gear stick is to the left

i have a 95.5 Tacoma 2.7l 4x4 5speed and someone pointed out to me that the gear stick is to the left by about 4" from where it should be when in first gear. What could cause this? Truck has 286k on it, I'm sure transmission has had work done before. Not sure what or when (bought it used)

check your transmission and motor mounts to see if they are crushed and making the transmission tilt.

Also pull the shift housing where the vinyl and plastic are out and inspect the actual shift handle and housing area where the handle goes into the transmission.

Now would be a good time to replace the junk plastic thats most likely in 10000 pieces with some marlin crawler stuff.

I have a URD short shift kit on my truck cause the stock throw was ridiculously huge.

You can find a new shifter stick from a junk yard or online if yours is bent to shit.
