Sarah and I like Shaun, there’s no talking or silly music. Just the sounds of little boy laughs while they watch.

Garage / Bunkie / Bigger then the camper build

Some 3D drawings of what we plan to build in Terra Nova this summer.

I used my new favorite program sketch up to designed it

This is my second attempt at using this program

    "almost" to scale

    20x24
    36'' man door
    10' wall
    Wood stove
    Loft for sleeping in
    36'' stairs
    Bathroom with shower
    8' garage door

I did not design the wood stove or truck they were downloads from the design warehouse

Post i made in the tec section with my brake question

So I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma that i have named 007 Taco Pro

Its Build can be found here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/007-taco-pro.527692/

Its not your average "build" more of a rebuild / breathing new life into a high mileage old truck

check it out you might get a kick out of it

BUT this post is not about the rebuild or the wrenching adventure, I am finding that the brakes SUCK on this truck.

Back story: I am comparing it to my 2002 1st gen v6 4x4 std acess cab NON abs with good general grabber tires.

Forward story: 2007 Tacoma is a crew cab long box auto 4x4 with a new frame from Toyota :)

NEW (but not OEM toyota) best quality the parts store had
brake lines from new frame recall
    Brake lines on rear axle
    wheel cylinders
    shoes
    drums
speed sensor on rear passenger side
Side axle seals are NOT leaking
    NO ABS light
    Good winter tires

recent front calipers pads and rotors from P/O that are starting to pulsate and drag to one side

when i do the front brakes i will upgrade to the tundra brakes

    PROBLEM

It SEAMS like my front brakes are doing all the work
I hit the brake the truck slides in the snow or ice forever with the funny abs sound noise coming under the hood. NO ABS light on while the funny sound is happening

it does not seam like my back brakes are doing anything
i hauled off the rear drums LOTS of brake dust
3 cans of brake cleaner and they are all clean reinstalled and adjusted
its better but still kinda sucks

Is it that i am not used to stopping in snow / ice with a truck equipped with ABS ?
    No weight in the bed
Is it fair to compare it to my 1st gen ?

    Thoughts ? ??

Just bought an 06, I find the abs about the same as my old dodge which is to say pretty lame (my wife's Kia and my old subaru are/were better but my old matrix had no abs and that was best). Plenty of people on here either pull the fuse or wire in a switch to disable it but just stand on the pedal she'll haul up ok. Read your their build thread the other day btw, you are an inspiring dude :)

This that and the other thing.

the breaks suck. end of story lol I have an 09, I hate my breaks hahahahaha I also hate the traction control. my rear breaks are also not adjusted, cant adjust them as well as I would like because my drums have a big lip due to being well worn. I will be replacing the drums, shoes and springs in the back as well as replacing the rubber brake lines with braided lines. I will be putting GX470 breaks on the front once the fronts are due for replacing. I will be doing an ABS kill switch as well. did I mention the breaks suck? its hit or miss, some people say they are fine and others find they are spungy, but I feel your pain, my buddy hates my breaks too. he said these trucks are known for the master cylinder going bad too apparently, tho I haven't seen anything like that on the forum. I actually have to double pump the brake pedal to get better response. push the pedal down about half way, let off the pedal but not all the way and with the second compression the breaks respond WAY better.

@Jorgy1 just had a look at the link it has given me a few ideas

    bleed rear brakes again
look into how to bleed the ABS block
    re adjust

Buy a anchor and rope tie to rear bumper and put in cab

Brakes do work but just suck

I know there is a tundra brake upgrade but cant seem to find a write up on it atm
