my contribution to the DIY thread, and my 1st mod. buy mag-lite brackets for your size flashlight and drill holes in the faceplate of your rear cupholders (doublecabs only, maybe extracabs too), then screw in.

the weather stripping on the inside of the 3rd brake lens cover is very very delicate. i removed my lens this AM to clean it and see what bulbs i could get to replace the old and knocked it off it's track and it ain't going back on...

side story - i bought a new 3rd brake light on Amazon and it didn't come with intructions, spyder, what a funny thing to do.

thanks to a fellow TW member I was able to replace the following lights on my truck with much brighter non-oem gear. I did the rear license plates, map lights and interior dome. it took a total of 15 minutes and was super easy - and I am an idiot when it comes to cars.

I highly recommend this upgrade and the oem lights are so dark. the pix look kinda blue and ghetto in the pix but in person they are very bright white and helpful.

unscrew the license plate light housing from bumper. rotate backside to uncllip light housing. remove old bulb and pop in new one. put it back together. VERY EASY
    [IMG]

    Dome Light
Pop off dome light cover, while light is off and key is out of ignition, take out old light and put in new light. replace cover. turn on and enjoy.

    Map Lights
Pop off map light /rear view mirror cover. be gentle and don't mark up the fascia piece. make sure lights are off and key is out. pop out old lights and put in new ones. VERY easy, enjoy!

Hey Man, not trying to be mean or an ass or anything but if it has happened, it's on here and someone before you has figured it out. The search function is your friend. Do a search for "wont start" in the 1st gen section and you will find a lot of information related to hard starting Tacomas.

Here are some links I came across when I did a quick search for you:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/195859-cold-start.html
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/189271-starting-problem.html
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/183283-starting-problem-2000-tacoma.html
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/171864-tacoma-hardstart.html

If after doing the searches you still can't find answers specific to your situation, consider starting a dedicated thread with as much information as possible about the trouble, what you've learned and what you have already tried for solutions.

Good luck man. Hope you figure it out soon.
