I have some deciding to do that's for sure. At least I have some time left to decide- end of Dec. when dealerships are hurting bad to get rid of last years model and everyone's broke after X-mas = best time. Joys of working for a dealership that time of year a while back lol.

If i have an aftermarket bumper, do I still have alot of trimming to do? Not sure how I feel about cutting into it just yet hence why I may just opt for the 6" lift with 35s to avoid it. Not as clean of a look though.

Depends on the bumper. 90yota didn't trim his. I have 37's now and mine don't rub on the bumper.

Gotcha. Ive decided a overland style rig setup is best for me. I don't crawl, and itll be a daily, and i also want it capable to do some awesome shit when need be.

What setup did you have here? curious how i should go about doing this. Everyone's saying going drop bracket is shitty and I want to do it right without breaking the bank

That was a long travel kit and 35's.

Honestly I'd just do a king or icon 2.5" kit and 285's. That's all you really need. Looks good too.

Outside of looks sometimes I wish I still had that setup.

I don’t even “need” a truck, but it’s for fun and also looks. I think Tacoma’s look shitty without 35s (or big 33s if fit right) - the newer gens. They’ve gotten too big body wise. How difficult is the trimming you did?

I’d do a 6” lift but I don’t want to cut the cross member in case I want to drop back down. 3” is plenty for me anyways and I like the more snug looking fit. Plus everyone’s saying how shitty DBLs are here which makes me want to avoid them if they’re less reliable long term. Is that true?

Most people here will say it's impossible to run 35's and a lift doesn't allow you to fit bigger tires.

I can tell you from experience I was able to fit 35's with a 2.5" lift by just doing a can mount chop. Fender/flare trim. And hammering the pinch weld.

I also had removed my wheel well liners so I can comment on those.

Mine didn't really rub. I think once or twice they hit th top of the wheel well. But you can just adjust bumpstops for that. Oh the horror.

lol, username in this thread mentions his Chaos Long Travel kit has him able to run 37s with just a little trimming, is this true? awesome looking setup but it looks like he has wide fenders too.

    Zero lift.

Mine is at 2.5ish of lift. To get mine to not rub on road I have my cab mount flush to bushing and soon to be flush to the bushing on the outer part. Then they'll rub on the body. I'm going to try and hammer it in. But might have to tub it. I think my caster is over 5.

    That's just for street driving.

Ive already read that lol, I don't want 37s. I want 35's and to do whatever 2.5-3" that'll make it the easiest to fit them without issues (least amount of trimming/chopping). I was just pointing out the Totoal Chaos setup because im reading it helps alot with fitting 35s and is obviously a solid system.

If SAS is the goal i would vote to keep it stock ish for now. do armor all around since you still want/need it when SAS. Good set of tires and beef up the suspension to carry the weight of all that armor. probably a basic OME kit for 3 inches and run 33 or smaller.

I would not go super crazy when you have a crazy plan in general to SAS. dont throw alot of money at something you are just going to cut out and replace.

kbradly dropped $35,000 of his parents money to solid axle swap that truck on 37s and its been killing all the cars and coffee meets.

I'm running 35s with 4.56s gears and I keep blowing my gears. The Tacoma 8 inch diff isn't meant to be used with 37s.
