Yep! That's the mod I did.

Since shifting into 4Hi disables VSC I figured I could do that mod and shift into 4Hi for driving around town (but thanks to the mod I am really in 2wd, so I don't damage the 4wd system on pavement) and that would let me keep Trac (as an LSD) while disabling the throttle cutoff. Well it worked even better than I thought. I don't have to flip the selector to 4wd. I can just leave it in 2wd and flip the 2Lo mod switch and VSC turns off.

It's certainly not as good as a real LSD, but it's better than being open.

Do this mod and give it a try. It is probably what you are looking for really. Also it's a lot easier to do than the 2Lo mod and we don't even know if you can do the 2Lo mod or not since you aren't a 4x4.

so i just got done with the mod, flippped the switch and had NO ABS or VSC lights pop up on my dash. I even pulled off the switch to break the circuit and NO lights popped up so i know the switch is good. I have the exact same wiring harness too.any ideas gentleman??

Have you like triple checked that you got the right wire harness and wire? You just did the ABS kill right? and not the Yellow wire?

Definitely have the right wire harness and definitely the correct wire. Do you know of anywhere to get a wiring diagram for Prerunners?

I can't imagine the wiring is any different for you. I wouldn't be surprised if you have all of the 4wd wiring harnesses in your rig, just missing the computer, switch and of course the Tcase, and front diff. If you have the right wire it should work since all you have to do is cut it. For my mod I have to ground it so it would be a little different.

i definitely do NOT have crom's wiring harness, just checked

the only 2 thing's i can think of is that they use a different wire for ABS on 2 wheel drives
    OR
my crimestopper alarm remote start system (installed in the same region) is messing it up from happening but i feel like thats a long shot

Weird, I would suggest checking the switch, but since it was removed completely that eliminates it as a cause. Did any other lights on the dash come one?

I went through a couple fuses before figuring out that I did not need to ground it.

    This guy's 2WD: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...comas-w-o-vsc-locking-diff-write-up-pics.html

Here's another thread: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/4838-cheap-free-mods-3.html#post45912 which worked for THIS guy (Prerunner)

My guess is you need to use a different ECU wire, or you need to ground it. The other solution is to pull your ABS fuse when you don't want it on, and continue to use the Burn Rubber button when you don't want VSC on. Sorry I couldn't more help man...good luck!

damn dude. I guess we will just blame Toyota for making 38 different versions of the same truck...

Good luck bro, I will troll around to try to find a solution too.

Just to confirm, you have a '10 TRD Sport DC/LB Prerunner, and you want to be able to disable ABS and VSC (to disable the throttle limiter) but still keep the eLSD function (TRAC)?

EDIT: have you checked this thread too? http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...easy-caveman-can-do-abs-disable-mod-pics.html (he doesn't have VSC, but it might work)

In the most basic terms, it locks the differential so both wheels have equal power and spin simultaneously no matter what. If you really want to dig into it, there's a TON of good info. out there.

Here are a few good articles:

so if i understand the second article correctly, by having the LSD button i have a selectable locker?

Not quite. The LSD turns your open differential into a simulated LSD (Limited Slip Differential) to send more power to the wheel that is losing traction. The first article is a better explanation of the various types of differentials in general.

Yup. And that's why I'm confused as to why this mod doesn't work on your truck, since its essentially the same as mine, just 2wd.
