No drilling and yes it’s offset from center but once I realized the rear camera is also offset my ocd wasn’t effected. Will have to take screen shots later if wanted

Very cool, didn’t know that existed. Front camera would definitely be nice at times.

In case anyone else wants to know the camera from the pictures above is crimestopper cam-400. I did quite a bit of research before hand and as far as front cams go- they all seem to be on the same/similar playing field. I was looking for the best/clearest etc etc but like I said they all seemed similar speced iirc.

So I figured these (brand name) may have better quality and the fact it had multiple mounting solutions (not knowing which one I needed/wanted) I was sure one of them would work for me.

http://www.crimestopper.com/products/safety/cameras/universal-cameras/cam-400 I payed 50 on Amazon not 100 from the manufacturer

If I don't like it, I can always do something else. The monitor is inexpensive.

I don't want to change anything about the OE head unit if I don't have to.

That looks pretty clean. When I get my camera I'll play around with it to see where I like it best.

    Thanks for the photo !

If you make the harness yourself or buy the kit with the harness already made up your not changing anything on the head unit or wiring.

I mounted my camera today. I had it temporarily hooked up to my monitor, and holding the camera in my hand, I moved it around until it showed the front edge of the bumper, and the area immediately in front of the truck. That's where I mounted it.

I found a camera on Amazon that fits in the open space below the Emblem and centered on the grille. My OCD just would not let me mount in off center so I engineered a support plate and a back plate to mount the camera on. I finished the anytime camera mod today and it turned out great.

I cut the plates out of a strong plastic wire spool but anything heavy duty would work. I cut the back plate 1" wider than the back of the opening and another one that rests on the outer lip of opening for the camera to mount on. I drilled three holes in both plates, two for the #4 bolts and a larger one for the wire. I removed the grille from the truck to make the process easier.

Don’t look at your tailgate then :stirthepot:

once I seen this I was fine with off center especially if that meant no cutting or drilling the grill and staying hidden inside

Just installed the latest anytime backup and front camera system.

I had installed the previous version 5 years ago which stopped working. I attempted troubleshooting to avoid replacing everything (camera, switch, relay, harness) but in the end just bought a whole new 'anytime camera' system which has been updated since my 2019 install. The switch is more intuitive (rocker switch with back/off/front) and the harness provides power to the camera so wiring is a bit simpler.

It was a slight PITA since I spent time troubleshooting the previous version and comparing versions before adding the latest system.

In the end.. this is a great addition for any 3rd gen owners that've wanted to see directly what's in front of them (and don't have the OEM birds-eye system.)
