I followed your instructions and I now am holding the switch in my hands. Thanks so much. It really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Only three things to unscrew and I didn't have to take the whole lower and upper dash apart. I just hand to bend them back a bit in order to get my hand behind the switch.

    Thanks so much.

    Yes.
My fog light button lights up... DAC does not, there's something else too. I find a quick slap helps Toyota's interior lights a LOT. The Tacoma is the only one out of five Toyotas in the driveway where the temperature controls still light up, on a regular basis.

Thank you SO MUCH for the part number on this. Finding part numbers for bulbs can be so tedious.

Thanks for the help guys. I got the dash apart and now have the part in hand. There definitely is a bulb in there and now I guess I will be ordering this part as soon as the toyota online stores get back online. Everyone I go to tonight seems to be down for maintenance. I guess they all use the same system for ordering OEM toyota parts.

In order to get the bulb out, you need a tiny screwdriver. Turn the brown plastic disc counterclockwise until it won't turn. Then use the screwdriver to gently pry the plastic disc up and the bulb is attached.

It looks like the bulb itself is pure white, but there is an orange rubber jacket on it. I don't know where you would get a different color jacket for it though.

    Paint it.

Also if you think getting to this switch was a pain in the rear end with having to remove all of the different panels, just wait until you need to get in behind the lighter plug....

Yeah, I have heard that. I plan on replacing my 2007 lower dash panel with a 2009 version so I can have extra switch spaces. I am not looking forward to that, nor am I looking forward to paying the cost of a new lower trim panel.

Thanks for the links. I did already do the mod to my 07 radio so I have an auxiliary in already. It's just a little unruly since I don't have a space to mount it. Right now, it is just the male end of an 1/8" stereo connection sitting in my glove box.

Interesting, I bought my 2010 new and the switch has never been lit up. I will look into installing a bulb. It has always bothered me that the switch does not light up. I have already done my 4X4 switch...

holy shit, I just check how much is cost, $3.75 + almost 7 dollars for shipping. One tiny bulb cost more than10 dollars.

Didn't know this was supposed to light up, just smacked the crap out of it and it seemed to come on, too bright out right now no matter what I do to truly see, does look like it has a orange glow to it though.

    Yes.
It's not too difficult. I believe it was about $130 from Toyota.

Just checked and it does light up, does go on and off with the slightest touch though, not something I am going to go through the hassle of trying to fix now. Might look into it in the spring when it warms up outside.

Before going through and buying the bulb, I would suggest testing the bulb first and there are two ways to do this: If you don't have a multimeter, just run two run two wires from your battery and place on the leads of the bulb (somone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the bulbs are 12v). If you do have a multimeter (they are cheap and save you from blowing things up, this is the smartest way to test) use this to see if there is continuity across the bulb. For those who aren't familiar with a multimeter this vid is pretty quick and painless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRhBImNYITg&feature=related Plus the accent is bad @ss. If the bulb comes back with continuity (multimeter goes to zero) the bulb is good; if once you put it back together it still doesn't light up, visually inspect to see if any part of the lead wires from the bulb are not in contact with the metal contact points of the holder...When I first took my switch apart my leads weren't touching. Hopefully this will save the trouble people buying new bulbs for not good reason. Guess it doesn't hurt to have a spare either.

Good advice. I did the opposite though. I removed the bulb, put a jumper between the two wires that the bulb touches and checked the continuity of the switch itself. The switch is fine, and I am now in the market for a new bulb.
