You boys keep these places to yourself and other like minded individuals. The only thing you need to be aware of is that some of these springs will boil you alive. Must be careful.

    .
Damn, looks like fun man, I need to go do this, I ran 50 one time years ago from Grand Junction to Reno, middle of the night, 100+ no cars for hours, rabbit-murdering fun!
I've criss-crossed Nevada, east to west, west to east, north into Idaho and south into AZ, might have to check some of this out sometime.

Went on a off roading trip with a group of friends through central Nevada (Great Smoky Valley, Toiyabe National Forest, Monitor Range) and loved it. Amazingly lonely. We saw almost no one on our trip and covered a lot of ground. Just look at the central part of the state in google earth. Lots of empty there with very few paved roads. That being said many of the dirt roads thorugh the valleys are very well maintained so you can drive relatively fast to get from one mountain range to the next. Then there are 100's of miles of routes going though the adjacent mountains. And being NV it's mostly public land and there are almost no restrictions on 4x4 access. Plus there's tons of old mines, ghost towns and evidence of indian occupation. We left knowing we'd barely scratched the surface and vowing to return soon! Highly recommended!

Hi to the left of the blue dot on your google maps screenshot there is dry salt lake. Is possible or allowed to drive over it or similar lakes? I am planning a trip over Nevada but don't want to use highways to my best abilities and definitely want to drive over these beautiful lakes. Any tips and suggestions are highly appreciated.

[IMG] Welcome to TW [IMG] from Ferntucky, NV
Most of the state is BLM land and open to all.
You will encounter some gates from time to time and the practice is to leave them the way you found them. You can open them (unless it says private property) but close them behind you if you do.
It's best to go with more than 1 vehicle.
Let us know and you might get some local company/escorts on your trip.
Enjoy our state it has more miles of unpaved roads & trails than there are paved ones. :yay:
