I'm down...get a hefty employee discount from my Uncles both being plant managers...diesel crew cab long bed if they keep the price semi reasonable...all the dealers around me offer 10 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranties if you are a repeat customer (which I would be) so not too concerned about little gremlins...Every new vehicle has its gremlins (Tacoma's included)...

Looks pretty similar to the Tacoma and apparently they are offering a diesel in the future. Your thoughts?

So…if they're not going to offer it on drop, why big deal? Another Chevrolet with its cheap-o plastic interior, green illumination and kooky My-Link system. Oh yeah, that shit works real great when you're in the middle of nowhere. My Tacoma may not have sweet peanut gallery bells and whistles, but at least I know when (and if) I sell it, it'll hold its value.

The inboard shock placement forced GM to put the exhaust in a less-than-optimal place, which in turn necessitates a low-hanging heat shield for the spare tire.

It'll be interesting to see if the truck will match Toyota's off-road electronic features (hill-descent assist, A-Trac, crawl control, etc.). Right now all we know is it has a 2-speed T-case and an "automatic locker" which is probably just the G80.

I don't know entirely because the only time I have seen the inside is the few times at a dealership. For some reason though, the interior on my 96 just looks like its made out of nicer plastics. I also like the things in my truck that are vinyl like the headliner.

Also, compared to my dads 2012 Ram, I think the Rams plastics are also of a higher quality than those in the new Tacomas.

The current Colorado is junk. I've known plenty of people who have owned one and been less than happy.

I kinda like the looks of the new one, and really like the diesel option, but until I drive one I'll hold off on judgment. I personally want it to be a good truck. The mid size market sucks, the Tacoma is the only real decent competitor, be nice to see something that gets Toyota worked up.

What similarities? I see a impala/malibu front end with a avalanche lower bumper. A fullsize mini bed with a crazy but very useful bumper and boring mellow fenders.

I think the exterior looks pretty good. I bet the GM version will look even better. Who knows how it will drive or hold up over time. We can only wait and see how it will stack up against the 3rd gen Tacoma.

Just found out it's going to be a turbo diesel. Wonder if you could put a blow off valve on it!

Only three vehicles I ever owned left me stranded.

88 Mustang bought new. P-O-S. "That's all I have to say about that."

Next was a 99 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Got stuck in a snow bank IN MY DRIVEWAY used 4 lo to crawl out, left bits of the brakes behind, luckily was warranty covered.

I liked the Wrangler - it was a fun vehicle. But not practical, and not reliable.

The other was an 06 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD Z71.

I liked the truck, but enough was enough. Only 82,000 miles and needed a new transmission, new transfer case, new front hubs, leaked water into the cab, the heater blower resistor failed. In winter. At night. 0 out.

GM would not warranty the heater though it was COMMON problem. I went a winter without heat just because it was too cold to pull the damn thing apart. Then in summer came the tech advisory and free fix. But after a winter of no heat, I was through!

This truck saw no offroad and was regularly maintained.

In between the Jeep and GMC I owned a black 01 Tacoma Double Cab. No problems. Now I own a black 13 Tacoma Double Cab. The 01 gave me 100K trouble free, and would have easily done another 100K. I'm sure the 13 will to! What was I thinking! Should have just driven the 01 for another 6 years! Well maybe the frame would've rusted out. But after 5 it was ok. And I live in the Northeast!

My wife has driven Subarus. We've had Outbacks and Foresters - again, problem free! Cars that also go forever. But then Fuji Industries is part owned by Toyota!

I think I've learned my lesson.

I'm sure there are folks that have had many problem free miles in GMs and Jeeps. And you'll find that Toyota lemon, too. But this was my experience.

I don't think I'll be in the market for another GM/Chrysler/Ford product any time soon.
