They look great! In fact that's exactly how I want mine to turn out! What kind of paint did you go with to black them out? Do you have any recommendation for the ballasts? 35w vs 50w? I figured I'd go with the 5000k Phillips as well.

I'd love to see some photos! I've always been a fan of the gatling gun shrouds but it sounds like they're a bit of work to get right. Maybe the apollo shrouds are the way to go!

25% is a big deal people! The results of a retrofit are unbelieveable! The light output is amazing!

List updated plus maybe two more from hidplanet.com

If you are not on the list its because you haven't told me what you are planning on getting.

Another update: this group buy is for stage III or IV kits only

I'm still debating between the 5Five 5000k and 6000k bulbs

Can anyone link to the best thread for actual retrofit?

I think we have about 5 (including myself) on hidplanet.com that are interested as well. Looks like this may be perfect timing to get in on the new Morimoto ballasts that should be coming out any time now. You can put me down for the following:

    FXR 2.0
    Morimoto 5Five (50W) Ballast
    Philips 85122+ D2S
    LHD
    Ocular Shroud
    Shroud Centric Rings
    Relay: H4/9003

I only saw one, maybe two that were interested. ExplorerBrian is one of them and he is on the list already

I doubt you will get harassed if you had a retrofit. Its the guys that do the PnP kits that get the flack since they are unsafe because they can blind other drivers. The retrofits are no different than a vehicle that has left the factory with HID headlights

gotcha now does anyone know if theyll work in a 1st gen or do they just use the factory hole for your original lights... kinda like a universal fit

They are universal fit to a degree. Meaning that they will fit in most anything you want to put them in but its not a matter of just taking the bulb out and replacing it with one of these. At a minimum you will have to remove the lens from the head light housing and spend a little bit of time aiming the projector. This is if you used the mini morimoto's. The FXR's are more involved as they require cutting up the headlight bowl and epoxying in the new projector.

If you want something as close to drop in as possible the morimoto's are the way to go. Some fitting may be required but they essentially just go where the factory bulb went. They have a threaded stem at the base that goes through the hole in the headlight, then you just tighten a locknut down at the back of the headlight.

thanks for the info, I knew I had to remove the lens I was unsure whether there was drilling larger holes or anything i just found a retrofit on here for a first gen seems pretty simple enough so I'm in, ill get my setup to you here shortly
