There's a skid plate covering it, road debris shouldn't touch it.

i got the little clip that goes into the hose and attaches to the little nipple.......the longer one may be more beneficial....i thought the ⅜” nipple was length from the place where the nipple starts, but it is from the base....but bot are functionally great products and you can use the hoe with the clip or just hose with longer nipple

Is there plenty of clearance for the long nipple between the oil pan and Pro skid plate. That is the real question I need answered.

Where does the drain plug figure into this? I understand the filter drops down, remove the filter, remove O rings.

    Where is the drain plug??

There is a spring loaded drain plug in the filter housing too. Remove the bottom plug and push the plastic drain tube in, that comes with the filter kit, and put a hose on it to drain.

That's what I was looking for.

Haven't seen the filter apart yet just got my TRD Sport so I'm figuring things out as I service my own.

Get the Baxter Performance spin-on adapter and never deal with this shit again. Best $200 I ever spent.

The center plug in the first picture is how you drain the filter before you remove it.

They sell a drain Percocet with hose so there is zero mess.

You can also buy an aluminum housing to replace the factory plastic housing

Be sure not to over torque either of these

Once I get under there to replace the current housing I will determine the largest filter.

Baxter uses a small mobile one filter but you must be able to fit a 1 qt cap filter.

Need to check it out and will provide measurements and the filter I end up going with but it wont be the small 1/2 qt

I’ve installed numerous Amsoil bypass filtration systems on various vehicles.

Your full flow filter is usually 15-20 micron.

The Amsoil bypass is 99% efficient at 2 micron.

Plus you end up with just about a full quart more of oil in your system. (More oil can hold more dirt).

    A very good investment!

This has been around in the 2GR engine since 2004. And 3rd gen is closing in on it's 5th model year (2020). Kinda surprises me that this setup is still such a new thing to folks.

But I guess if you haven't owned a Toyota in the last 15 years or so, it might be
