Satoshi GrillCraft *How To* w/ pics

Ok I'm not gonna read through all these pages but how exactly did you fasten the mesh to the grill itself? Everything seems to be clear but that.

Ok never mind. Just seen the zip tie pictures.

 

You can use zip ties or safety wire if you know how to safety wire. I have zip ties on mine right but hoping to get safety wire this weekend. I don't really trust the zip ties with the heat of the motor and the desert heat on top of it.

 

Can't wait until this Missouri weather warms up and this is next on my list

Any chance you have any product names of the putty, already got the epoxy thanks!!

Took a crack at a Satoshi using the plastic mold/putty method. I bought a black billet grille set to do something a little different, I think it came out pretty well:

It all held up great with some heavy ice build-up during my drive to Arapahoe Basin last weekend! Still looking to get a Land Cruiser emblem for the grille, but that $70 price tag is killing me haha

Nice lookin' variation and for doing the "Skewp". Still tryin' to get to mine.
I also used Klipp11's method and it's held up great, since May, 2010 (Thanks Again).
I got the mid-80's Land Cruiser Emblem for $40ish Shipped, 4 yrs ago.
And last time I checked they were still about the same

Cape Codder, your truck looks awesome and I'll be doing that horn relocation soon. Thanks for the link to the emblem, I've already got it on order. I don't have the tools to make it look like yours though, I'll have to mount it as-is for now.

 

I like this approach to the cut outs. how do you epoxy the plastic pieces to the grill from the back?

Cut pieces, line 'em up, add epoxy, clamps, add pieces to back for support.
Whatever it takes, be creative

Probably a dumb question, but, with the deep lip satoshi, are you suppose to sand smooth the interior lip in front of the mesh? A member on here made me one and I never thought anything of it when I installed it last year but now I notice the rough surface when washing the truck. Never really thought about it last year, was just excited to get it in and put it on, lol. Anyways, if you are suppose to sand it, what grit and method would work the best? Seems like a lot to do by hand
