Tire Install Question.

    Ok so I ordered some 18 inch rims offset -12 with 4.53 backspace to go on my 33x12.50 tires and I have a three inch lift kit aswell as this lifting block like thing in the front that the previous owner installed. Anyway my question was where do I need to trim to clear the tires. Pics would be great!

    You may need what is known as the "cab mount chop"

    I'm not sure what that is, but I've heard it talked about on here a lot

    You also will definitely need to take off your mudflaps

    If I were you, I would crawl under there and turn your wheel and see where it hits.

    Since you have a block lift, I assume you won't be going off road, which means you don't have to worry about turning under hard compression situations.

    Probably ganna need the cab mount chop. Look in the back of your wheel well you will see where the cab is mounted to the frame, or the body mount. That will need to be cut back and a new plate will have to be welded on there

    So your taking your spacers out and installing a 3" lift? Which one? 12.5" x 33" are going to rub alot

    The dreaded pro comp lift :stirthepot: just kidding, thing is those front coilovers will ride very stiff. They use 700 lb spring rate coils, most guys only use springs that stiff if they have a plate bumper and winch

    Oh good lol, you didnt mention that. Then yes those coils will be good for you. Something like old man emu with a 590lb spring rate would sag with that much extra weight. Alot of guys go with 650lb springs, but the 700 will be nice, you dont want them sagging, your ganna need that extra height to clear 33x12.5 tires. You really wont know how much trimming until you get them mounted. I had to cut my cab mount, bang over the pinch weld, trim the very bottom of my fender flares and cut away a bunch plastic wheel well liner

    I'm still confused with the cab mount cutting. Are there any threads baed on that? I couldn't find any.

    He says you will be able to fit 285's. Is that without a lift?

    What tire do you recommend for this lift with out doing the cut and just doing trimming?

    Eh probably not, probably means with a lift, the lift doesnt matter as much once you stuff the suspension tho. you might need to do a pretty aggresive cab mount chop. It really is hard to know for sure, there are to many factors but i can tell you a -12mm offset and 12.5" tires are ganna cause some rubbing. I have -10mm and 285s so 11.5" and i had to do alot of trimming. Who knows you might barley rub the cab mount and just need to shave it down. I had to cut mine, i have 2.5 inches of lift and i rubbed during normal driving at full lock. Caster and camber numbers also play into rubbing

    285/65/18 are a safer option than 33x12.5, but you still mighhtt have to do the CMC, especially if you wheel it hard an flex out the suspension. 275/65/18 will most likely not need the CMC. If you are not set on the 18" wheels you can get a tall skinny tire and not do the CMC, like 255/85/16 (33.3x10)

    That might be a good option, a little taller than 285/75/18 but a little skinnier. There will probably still be trimming
