No real helpful information to add, but I just wanted to let you know that your truck is not the only one experiencing this issue. My truck's vibration issues manifest in the steering wheel during acceleration at certain gear levels intermittently. At speeds from 70 onward on various road surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.), the vibration becomes constant and aggravates carpal tunnel/arthritis during rides that last more than 30 minutes or so. The vibration is greater on the bottom of the steering wheel. Everything is stock on my truck which is different than the one in my signature (got a new one from negotiating after rats demolished my prior new one which did not have the vibration). TRD OR '17. I have yet to take the vehicle to the dealer. 5k miles currently.

Im Currently dealing with this vibration issue. Had tires re balanced 3 times. and twice done via road force. still vibrated like crazy.

Finally convinced the tire shop to replace the tires with 4 new ones... Still there..

For reference truck has no lift and tires are 265/70/17 general grabber at2. The vibration was not there when I first had the tires installed in january. As if it developed out of nowhere and is still there after replacing all 4 tires.

General at2 vibration. Ok at first then vibrations at certain speeds.Road force balance helped but Did Not FIX the problem because one tire was out of round.Figure out which one it is or are andkeep them on the rear.

One tire out of balance or out round will shake truck. I would take it some where they will let you see it spinning on a balance machine. Any shop will fight with you over your tires if they are ones who have to dish out money if things are discovered not to be right.

Alignment was checked yesterday aswell. All is good.

What are the odds I get a shit tire on the second set?

Had them re balanced by the shop that did my alignment aswell. None of the tires took to much weight.

That and the vibration is still in the same form as it was before I got new tires.

If it's out of round it is not going to ride right.

I have a saying. You can balance a square. But, that does not mean it is going to ride right.

To eliminate the tires/wheels problem, do you have another taco buddy cloase to you and swap tires for test? Vibrations should move to his truck and yours be OK.

I'm gonna start by putting the stock spare on and see if I can narrow it down to either a bad tire or bent wheel.

I watched them being balanced from 2 feet away and 3 wheels needed very little weight compared to the 4th. So I, suppose its possible that theres one bad tire out of the new batch..

Same problem here. I've had a steering wheel wobble since I bought my truck about 4K miles ago(265/65/17 toyo open country on Toyota 17" alloys) Today I had my wheels replaced with brand new black 4 runner TRD rims wrapped in 265/70/17 Duratrac rubber and had it aligned. The truck looks bad ass, alignment numbers all in green, I was pumped! Drove it home all excited, jumped on the highway and CRAP! The wobble's still there maybe even worse! 55-75mph the steering wheel shakes so bad it makes my hands tingle! I'm pretty pissed and was gonna go back to Big O to give them hell but after reading this thread I m starting to think it could be something else. Alignment good, new rims, new tires, what could it be??

So what's the tire size, brand, and is it P, C, D, E rated ?? I'm pretty sure I didn't see that posted...

I know some tires come out bad from factory and unable to balance them even if they have been road forced.

Like others have said. Find a Someone who is willing to swap tires for a day to test. I'm sure a TW member would help you out.

    Good luck

    Tire size is a p rated 265/70/17.

Update. Wobble seems to come and go. Mechanic friend of mine thinks it could be bearings in the rear diff? thoughts?

And still working on a set of stock wheels/tires.

    None as of yet
Mine also seems to come and go, as in it's happened on roads that I've driven on before that it wasn't present, if that makes sense. There are also certain roads/sections where the vibration does always show, and is worse than other roads. It can have this vibration on the smoothest of roads, and not have it on the shittiest of roads. Doesn't make sense.

Lets look at some Vibration diagnostics . Anytime someone asks a vibration question , I copy and paste this .
I believe there are at minimum at least 12 different vibration issues assosiated with the Tacoma and all the vibrations / shudders get mixed into the same pot leaving members scratching their heads .
Have you greased your driveline ?http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tec...rks-total.html
Do you know how to grease your driveline properly http://aftermarket.federalmogul.com/...%20FAQ%27s.pdf
Have you checked your carrier bearing https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-replacing-carrier-bearing.260283/
Does the truck vibrate in park or neutral and does the vibration change with accelerator pedal ? This is a misfire test for your engine
Does the truck vibrate while holding the brakes and hitting the gas - Automatic ? This is also a misfire test for your engine under load
Does the truck vibrate in neutral at a stand still ?or coasting in neutral ?
Does the truck vibrate in 4x4 ?
    Does the truck " Only vibrate " from 1st to 2nd gear ? https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vibration-when-accelerating-from-stop-anyone-fixed-it.300155/
Does the truck only vibrate in 2 wheel drive ?https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...differential-bearing-vibration-thread.152173/
Does the truck vibrate with the serpentine belt removed ?
Does the truck vibrate cold or hot ?
Does the truck vibrate if you select neutral and coast to a slow roll without using the brakes ? What happens when you turn the truck of in Neutral at highway speed ? Can you still feel the vibration ?
Does the truck clunk over bumps ?https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tacoma-loose-bed-design-flaw-explanation.388873/
Does the truck vibrate as you are braking ? When was your last brake job ? Consider the front rotors may be warped or the rear drums are out of round .
Does the truck vibrate with weight in the truck or empty ?
Does the truck vibrate while upshifting ? Have you checked your trans fluid ?
Does the truck vibrate while downshifting ? Have you checked your trans fluid ?
When was your last transmission fluid service ?
Is the vibration caused by your torque converter ? Tapping the brake pedal at highway speeds will release the torque converter clutch . You are not actually hitting the brakes ,but manipulating the brake switch . If the vibration goes away you can expect a misfire or a converter clutch issue .
Read here for more information regarding automatic transmission diagnostics
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...th-pics-for-second-gen-4-liter-trucks.289913/
Now that you have a lift kit installed the truck vibrates . Did you cancel your drive line angles ?
Have you looked at the condition of your tires ? Toyota says to rotate every 5000 miles .Tacoma tires must be road forced balanced using the Haweka adapter on the tire machine [IMG]tsu00296.pdf
When was the last time you rotated your tires ? Are you using LUG centric aftermarket wheels ? have you considered " HUB centric rings " http://www.amazon.ca/s/?ie=UTF8&key...vptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_7ybe1f1pby_e
Have the balance weights fallen off the tires ?
A good vibration technician can tell immediately if your vibration is caused by the rotating speed of your wheels or by the rotating speed of your driveshaft .
If you go through this list carefully , you should be able to narrow down where the problem is .
The proper and only way to test for bad universal joints is with the driveshaft removed . You cant tell if the universal joints are seized or tight spots with the driveshaft on the truck . You may see play in the universal joints , but you wont be able to properly check the u-joints without removing the driveshaft .All it takes to create a vibration is one seized universal cup and there are 4 cups within each joint .
With this said , you cant tell if that cup is seized with the driveshaft connected .
Removing the driveshaft and manipulate each universal joint by hand from side to side feeling for tight spots as you go is the only way to check for bad u joints
If you beleive its bad motor mounts or transmission mounts , grab a big pry bar and pry at the mounts to see if the rubber is torn or weak .

    CANCEL DRIVELINE ANGLES http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...tion-free.html

I'm going to try and throw a little weight in the bed and see if that does anything to settle it down.

My whole truck shakes between 35-40 and if I let off or hit the gas it instantly stops. Been doing it for over a year I can’t figure it out and no shop can either any ideas??
