-Came off a 3 Year lease, at 81 xxx kms for about $22k. First major vehicle purchase of my life. Never looked back
-Choice was between SW DCLB fully loaded, Silver DCLB stock or Speedway Blue ACLB. I definitely chose right. Love me a white truck. Looks good dirty, looks good clean.

LOL that's funny you were in the wrong place. Well it is a good start to a build thread. It's good you got it started now also before you got too far and had to try and remember all you'd done to the truck. I waited a while and what a PITA that was trying to remember it all. Very nice does that work with a factory hitch? I'd like to look at a bumper but I have to retain a hitch for my utillity trailer and camper.

 

So I only have a few pics of the bumper pre install because I did it on a Sunday night at 2230 haha. Tomorrow she's getting a bath and be sure to show her off then

That's exactly what it does. Keeps the factory tow hitch but beefs up the rear bumper. and the reason I picked it up.










Super clean with build and happy I picked It up. Took maybe 10 minutes to install.

Thrown onto a 2010 DCLB

Didn't take any pictures of the cutting process but its pretty simple.. just cut it out.


used bondo fiberglass and JB weld to rebuild the sides that were cut out.

the grill fitting after cutting out the raptor mesh. took about 2.5 cm off though i might have been able to gone to 2.55


You can see in this one a) my flip flop b) the the sides cut out, bondo'd up.

first couple coats of black matte paint (rustoleum matte black)

now for securing the grill i went two fold:
1. 4-40 screws with #6 washers
2. JB weld around the side. I bent the ends of the raptor mes to fit the front profile but beware; too many bends and it will snap and the profile curves


just the trianlges jb welded, made sure to keep them lined up with the front grill




8 different points to secure the grill to the plastic front , on the bottom portion I used JB weld all around the seems. "Two is one, one is none"

I broke a couple of threads off the screws so the letter T literally has 5 different holes drilled and tapped with 2 of them containing broken screws. I also used JB weld on the threads so the only way these letters are falling off is if i take a hammer to it

Overall fairly happy with the mod. First real big mod i have ever done a vehicle. took me about 4 full days and 2 half days to complete because i wanted it to be perfect, which its not haha

 

Looks sweet man, loving the bumpers. Any plans for a lift?

 

Definitely. I don't want something to big. Looking at 3inches to compensate for the weight it has on now + a roof top tent. Looking at bilsteins 5100's but I haven't done enough research yet. What do you think?

so I ordered mine from a company in the states for 849.00. In Canada it goes for 1400.00 at least, with the exchange and picking it up in the states i was just over 1000.00

 

I did the Bilstein's with Eibach coils on the front just read through this it'll show you what all I did. I have since switched the rear shocks to Icon RR's

sweet thanks! the thing im nervous about is ruining the ride. I want to smooth up those bumps both on and offroad and I dont know the most cost effective manner of doing so

I can tell you this the suspension I put in rides way better than stock and increased the load capacity in the rear as well

 

so in the end what lift did it give you and what would you have done differently? (cheaped out on or put more money towards?)

 

It gave me 3" in the front. I've had the 3 leaf aal on 2 trucks now and both times it gave me about 3 in the rear which leaves the rear about 1 1/2" higher than the front. I wasn't concerned with being level more so with being functional. Is this a suspension that will give you crazy travel for rock crawling and stuff? No, but it is capable and good quality. I could have gone wiith Kings or something else but for an overlanding type build this does all I need. Pulling a camper and utillity trailer i also retained the sway bar. This suspension will give you plenty of performance both on road and off. The Camberg UCA's give you castor already built in so reaching an optimum +3 castor is easily reachable giving you more driving stabillity and better tire clearance. Are Kings or Icons better? Yes but also like 3 times the price and these do all I need the only reason I put the Icons on the rear is a buddy here made me a deal I couldn't refuse. They don't feel any better than the Bilsteins did but they are rebuildable and if I upgrade to a different spring pack I believe they can be converted to extended travel.

 

With your bumper set up I would do OME nitrocharger 90000 wrapped in OME 886x coils. That'll give you a 3 inch lift in the front. Rear I'd go with Dakar leafs. Plenty of info here if you search. Bilstein's aren't a bad option, but with the front bumper I feel like the 886 coils will definitely give you the lift you want.

 

Good catch I hadn't thought about the bumper/ winch he has my front bumper is aluminum so the weight hasn't been an issue.

I've been eyeing an ARB bumper for a while (for deer and mountain goat protection in CO since I've had a few misses). So last summer I jumped on a group buy for an OME kit with 886 coils and dakars because they are designed specifically for ARB bumpers (OME is ARB's suspension divison). It's a bit stiff without the bumper but I've taken my truck rock crawling up Engineer Pass and 100-miles overlanding in Canyonlands, Utah without issue. I can't recommend this set-up enough. I got about 3" up front and 4" in the back without removing any leafs.
