I haven't heard of anyone needing them. Mine are on 1st Gen TRDs so it's like having 3/4" spacers due to the 4.5" BS.

nope. i'm running TC UCA's with 5-1/4" BS.

I rub frame a little at full lock/stuff, but that's fine with me.

I'm hoping my tires will be in on Monday. I'll go borrow a friends tire machine and then road force balance them... So much cheaper when you know how those machines work :) oh crap, that's Christmas eve... The wife will kill me if I try to work on my truck that night.. :damn:

I recently got a set of Konig 16x8" wheel with 265x75 Duratrac tires all new for my Tacoma, but I want to go with the 255/85 in the future for the added clearance. I would put these on the original 16" steel factory wheels (came on my truck with 245/15 Dunlop street car tires). I think these original wheels are 7" wide or maybee 7.5" wide but they are homely silver painted things. The good thing is they have the TPS senders in them. Had to spend about $300 to get new sensors in my Konig wheels.

Does anyone sell a good looking 16x7 wheel with proper backspace for eunning these 255/85R16 tires on a Tacoma? The First gen Tacoma alloys are decent looking if I could fina a set for a fair price, but what else is out there?

I'm also interested in aftermarket 16x7 wheels to run the 255s.

I've looked at a lot of websites and there are very few options.
    Any input is appreciated!

Talk to Dustin who sells the Konigs on here. I can't remember the number of people needed but he mentioned them being able to cast a wheel they offer in a different size or spec if "x" number of buyers were interested. Maybe enough folks who like skinnies would be down. It's kind of a long shot, but may be worth it since no one seems to make a 7" aftermarket width wheel.

IMO the best "cheap" wheeling wheel around with perfect backspace is these...

    Wheel Part Number: #69459
    2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma
    Size: 16" x 7", 6 Lug, 5.5" Bolt Pattern
    Finish: Silver
Description: 5 Spoke Factory Styled Steel Rims

*The wheels are steel so if you bend a bead of rim you can beat it back verses needing a new wheel.
*My current set up (shown 255/85/16 E load KM2's) is only 8# heavier per wheel then my 17" aluminum wheels with C load Duratracs in 265/70/17.
*The (5) wheel lugs extend out past the rim so they protect the valve stem great as well as the rim.
*They wheels with their backspace tuck into the fender wells.

I got 8 for $100 so $12 per wheel.... and that was with center caps and lug nuts that I sold. I gave one of the extra wheels to a buddy for buying me lunch and gave another wheel to a buddy for a 6pack. :D

Thanks for the input! It's too bad I gave those wheels away after I got my new wheels because I couldn't get a dime for them. I guess there really aren't any mass produced 16x7s aftermarket wheels

LOL - yea I got four of mine for free and paid $100 for the other four so I just tell everyone $12 per wheel

I have one left over if you wanna buy one? :D

I think I currently have something like 13 Tacoma wheels total. 5 on my truck and 7 in my basement of which 5 have tires on them.

So I just got a set of FJ wheels 16x7.5 wheels and was thinking of going to the 255/85/16 tire. Seeing how the FJ wheel is a 4.75 bs with 15+ mm offset which makes it around a 5" bs. Could I run the 255/85/16 tire on a 2" lift front and nothing in the rear? I have a 1.25" spacer in the front as well running the stock trd offroad wheels with a 265/75/16 tire. I was also considering a 285/70/16...I am very much up in the air right now...

Spacers up front will not help and IMO will only make you rub more.

I have about 1" of lift up front and barely ever rub the rear firewall.

Not so sure I would want to air down with 7-1/2" wheels though. Pretty sure these tires are for 7" wide wheels. You may want to check BFG's website on that one though.

I can always throw them on the stock wheels. I read thru 10 pages of this and my eyes hurt now...I think I will just run a 265/75/16 tires in the winter on the fj wheels and 255/85/16 in the summer for desert trips and camping!

    LOL

The main advantage to the 255/85's is the added 1" clearance over the 265/75's.

FJs have 4.75" BS. The offset does not affect BS. Back spacing is the distance from the mounting surface to the inside edge of wheel. Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface.
I (and several others 1st gen alloys on 2012) are running 255/85/16s on 1st Gen TRDs 16"x7" with 4.5" BS (.75" less than stock 2nd Gen). I'm not sure what the others have for lift, but I have 3" front from OME 885s & 3" rear from OME Dakars. No rubbing & even run all mud flaps.
You might run into problems with no lift in rear

The FJs will be like running .5" spacers, adding 1.25" to that will cause problems.
    BFG says 6.5" to 8" for 255/85/16s.
