I found an answer to a question that was asked a few years ago in this thread. What happens if the ABS kill switch is active and you attempt to engage the locker?

    The answerer is nothing really.

The 4WD ECU still activates an internal relay, but the diff will not mechanically engage. It does not hurt the truck.

If the vehicle operator wants to engage the diff lock, they must disable the ABS kill switch, then use the factory locker switch.

Your initial observation is correct. That's why I added a simple circuit of a transistor and a resistor to provide the necessary grounding to the ABS system. Since this is a low-current system, this simple mod works beautifully! Again, I can provide a schematic if anyone is interested.

Adding some info to my "mod of the mod" idea above. Looking at the '06 wiring diagram (I don't have a more recent) we'd actually tap not the brake lights themselves but instead the brake light switch (actually called "stop light switch" in the FSM) that is activated by pressing the brake pedal. The reason is that the VSC and possibly other traction control systems can also activate the brake lights through their own relay so if we used the brake lights themselves the Skid Control ECU could essentially disable itself whenever it turned on the brake lights! Not the desired effect. A signal from this "stop light switch" which would be 12V when the brake pedal is pressed is available on one of the junction boxes/harnesses right in the drivers foot well which would be conveniently located along with all the other wires the existing mod uses.

Hmmm... This is looking achievable with a single low current relay and an extra wire from one more harness. May have to try this in the fall when I'll probably do a lot of mods on my truck. Will need to get the current wiring diagram for my 2015 before proceeding to be sure nothing has changed harness and wire color wise.

I hear what your saying and I'm not trying to discount your hard work. Just describing what this switch actually does for those who may not be electrically inclined and feel intimidated thinking they have to run an extra fused 12v wire and some extra electronics when in fact it can be as easy to wire as any other set of switch contacts.

The switch can be used to switch to ground without additional electronics if you want to forgo the lighting options. Just connect the green/yellow wire to ground and the red/yellow wire to the 1B1, pin 4 connection needed to disable the ABS. This will work, but without the light options.

Someone had also asked about putting a lighted switch in, so that is what I was also trying to address in addition to the question about locating a switch with graphics.

Well this is certainly the most factory looking switch you could use if you have the stock location for it, which fortunately I did.

Maybe you've answered this question in this thread I just haven't read all 23 pages but....

Can you do this mod with the anytime rear differential locker?

Yep, I have done both mods and they work together without issue. I personally use the ABS killswitch as soon as I touch gravel, and then turn the locker on and off as needed (with the ABS killed the entire time).

Did the mod today, with some shoddy dremel work. Oh well, the switch works and it wasn't hard to do.

So when toggle switch is switched on. It just grounds out the blue wire , basically ?

Update: I used this today in both 2WD and 4HI, it worked flawlessly. There is a stretch of whips on the beach approach here that used to send my ABS into panic mode, but worked just fine today, especially while two-footing it. No issues switching off to employ the locker on a steep and loose dune as well.
