Been searching and trying to find a good resource place for people to put their specs and actual lift achieved. Can we make a compilation of that here? Getting ready to install my King 2.5's and want to set a basic height before install. Lets throw up what your setup is (length of exposed thread)and lift height, pics if ya want for reference. Here are some other basic threads i found with random info about adjusting them.

Include if you cranked the drivers side how much more to fix the lean.

    Thanks all

Every truck is going to be different and the only way to get it exactly where you want is to set aside an afternoon for you to be able to measure, make adjustments, settle suspension, repeat.

There are too many factors involved in setting "ride height" to make a blanket statement "this much preload for this much ride height". You can ball park it, but it's unlikely to be precise.

Always a gamble and will take some adjustment. I set mine with about an inch of thread showing with 650lb coils and Dakar rear setup with matched 2.5 kings. The front was a bit high but after adding sliders and B.A.M.F. IFS and Mid the front is now pulled down and slightly lower then the rear. I also added the Dakar 29XL extra leaf. I also have a topper on it to add to the weight. Bumpers will bring it down even more. Feel free to look through my build thread in my signature to see my setup.

Digging the setup. What are you running front and rear? Obviously kings in the front. Curious on your wheel setup as you cut your fenders how I wanted to get mine setup to get ready for 35+

Looks like ill need to bump it up to 700lb coils. regret not doing it in the first place.

Thanks for the input, we can adjust after, just looking at the first initial setup to get the big adjustment out of the way. I have 700lb springs with us offroad winch bumper & winch. Looking to shoot for about 7-10 turns over oem setting. Work at a dealership with proper tools and lift etc to make things easier. Just looking for a good base line for everyone getting into this because it seems adjusting on the truck totally SUCKS. I will post my results as well this well with pics.

My base line oem Kings only have about 1/2" or so of threads showing. Looking to turn them up a bit then fine tune possibly on the truck or if i have more time to keep removing and changing.

So you really only need to remove sway bar and abs line bolt and these just slide in? I have spacers on stock struts and had to remove lower ball joint bolts to gain extra room to squeeze those in. Kings really slide in without doing that?

Can't recall but sounds similar, they did not take long to remove or add once we got the first one on.

I would highly suggest getting that spanner wrench from Kings it make a world of difference. I can easily adjust the shock while installed on the truck. I yet to adjust with 700lb springs. I'm ordering a set soon and will report back.

I thought it said not to do it on the truck but if you can nice. I may have to get that as well. That rod is a pain.

I think the instructions were referring to the rod, which is impossible to use if the shocks are on the truck. The spanner wrench is made for getting around the reservoir hose+adapter when adjusting on the truck. I could be wrong but it worked. ;)

Nice! I heard that its possible it could damage the top part of the shock. If we can do it with the spanner than awesome. I would love to knock my front down a hair.

Not certain what your talking about, but it sounds like the reservoir hose+adapter, since that is in the way when you try to turn the collar.

Mine came from DSM with about an inch of threads showing. I was worrying about adjusting them before installing them too. Somehow they ended up being perfect at 2.75"s on both sides and haven't drooped in 5k miles. I did buy the t handle and haven't had to use it yet.

All you have to do is slightly loosen the hose fitting and rotate the hose up and tighten it. Then you have full access to the collar.

7-10 turns sounds really excessive. After 2turns it was getting hard to turn.

Nice! Felt like the tire setup was a larger one. Thinking of this or a 35 setup next round.

It's much easier to lower than to lift while it's installed or under load. imo, preload more than you think you'll need before Install. Install. Drive it a bit. Then lower on a lift.

Trying to gain additional preload while it's bolted to the truck could cause the sleeve to begin to turn. Plus it's hard as shit to do.

Although, the correct answer is to remove it everytime you adjust it. Ultimately, it's your truck. Do what you think is best.

    * clean and lube the threads before hand. I use a liquid wrench and let it soak before adjusting. Makes life easier, even if they're new.
