Welp I got bored and went on a random wheeling trip tonight and found out I need to invest in some under armor esp a transmission skid. Ive looked at a couple vendors. I was hoping a few members could chime in and let me know what kind of skids they run as well as pros and cons of what they run. Thanks- Jared.

    Jared,

My two cents for what it's worth: depending on your driving habits and how often and where you off road, I offer the following: I live in Colorado and travel the "back" roads often, with altitudes varying from 8500 to 13,000 feet plus. We "got" lots of rocks, so I felt the need lots more than the Toyota tin foil skid plate that came on the truck. Additionally, since there's a plastic emission control box located on the under side of truck about where the back seat end I felt it necessary to include in my protection scheme.

After some research I elected to go with BudBuitl. I thought it was a little costly at first, but after installing and hitting the back country roads the Budbuilt skid plate assy is worth every dollar I paid, and maybe a couple bucks more. It's relatively easy to install by yourself and a floor jack, but admittedly simple with two people.

There are several other, just as good, skid plates on the market and research on the net only takes a short time; a great place to start is here on TacomaWorld.

    Hope this helps.

    Bob
