What would you place between there? I am considering ordering a pair but would like to see what can be placed between the wire and fender so the wires inside won't get cut up or anything.

Anyone know of anything you can place between the wires and fender area so that nothing happens to the wire or start to cut it up on the inside?

It's really not that big of a deal now that I installed mine, there is enough room to route the wire in a manner where no rub through would occur under normal conditions. If you wanted be overkill, some split loom wire jacket would work fine.

TRD Pro 4Runner alloy wheels with BFG KO2 265/70R17 tires, OEM exhaust tip, OEM mud flaps, OEM body color mirror caps, Sylvania 194 LED license plate bulbs, Morimoto xb LED fog lights, Morimoto 2stroke LED headlights.
Today I installed a set of the Morimoto 2stroke LED headlights on my 2016 Tacoma. Overall the installation was more difficult than the Morimoto xb LED fog lights I also have installed, but not as complicated as an HID kit. You have to partially remove the headlights as noted in previous posts and have lots of patience getting the bulbs installed in the tight space. The quality of this Chinese made kit is good but not nearly as good as the xb fogs which are made in Taiwan. One of my metal screw wire connections was too tight in the wire housing to rotate properly making installation much more difficult on one side. I debated sending this part back for a replacement but just decided to use pliers to tighten that connection the best I could and seal it with electrical tape. The Cree XP50 LEDs used in these bulbs are better in terms of output and heat durability than the Cree MK bulbs used in the OPT7 LED bulbs from Amazon so I am hoping these will last for the length of their 3 year warranty while maintaining output. The components of this kit get extremely hot even after just a 10 minute drive, so I am going to closely monitor them to make sure no damage is done to my headlight housing or wiring. It was over 100°F today which didn't help, but I was still concerned with how hot the ballast/transformer metal box component got after a short drive so be careful where you mount this. I had zip tied it in an elevated position but after how hot it got I cut the zip ties and placed it on the metal area below the rear of the headlights away from other wiring. You can hear the fans operating inside the bulbs when the lights are on with the engine off, but you can't hear anything from inside the truck when driving. For the price, if I get 3 years out of this set I will be satisfied, I just hope they are able to withstand the high heat for that long without damaging any other components. I didn't have this concern with the Morimoto xb LED fog lights at all, and will keep some tools and spare halogen bulbs in the truck just in case.

The metal connector on the end of this wire was supposed to spin freely to connect to the bulb wire, but on this side the plastic was too tight preventing the collar from spinning. This made connecting the wires by hand impossible and I had to use pliers. I was going to send this part back since a good connection was impossible but I didn't want to wait for it to arrive in the mail so I made it work the best I could and electrical taped over the whole thing to prevent water damage. I ended up electrical taping over several of the weaker feeling connections just to be safe.

The bulb color matches well with the Morimoto xb LED fog lights and LED DRL, not exact but looks good, better than most of the HIDs I have seen since all the components here are LED.

The LEDs (right) are a significant upgrade in terms of appearance over the standard halogens (left).
    0730161348.jpg

In terms of light output I am satisfied with the even distribution of light, light color which causes less eye strain at night, and significantly reduced glare over the standard halogens (in my testing tonight I found virtually no glare to oncoming traffic with these LEDs compared to the OEM halogens). Maximum distance is not as good as the 50w HID kit, but light distribution to the sides is much more evenly distributed with the LEDs and I felt very comfortable and confident on my test drive tonight at various speeds. Ultimately longer reach would be preferable but I consider these safe for driving at night especially when compared to the OEM halogen headlights. There is much more evenly distributed light to both sides, it just lacks the high intensity long distance hotspot found in the 50w HID kit. The beam is so much wider than the OEM halogens for spotting deer, pedestrians, and other hazards. Given the instant start-up and lack of components to fail compared to the Morimoto HID kit I ended up with the 2stroke LED kit and am satisfied overall. I really didn't want to have all the components and wires needed for the Morimoto HID kit mounted under the hood and to get closer to an OEM bulb/ballast HID setup would be very expensive. If these last the length of their 3 year warranty I will be happy and by then maybe Toyota will have an OEM LED headlight available for purchase on the Tacoma.

I'm wondering how these do as the high beams. The current morimoto LEDs I have in aren't cutting it.

after doing a little more looking it doesn't look like the 2 stroke is the best bet for the high beams. oh well. retrofit source doesnt even carry the LEDs i have has nights any longer. might have them on the market soon.

Got the DDM tuning saber kit thought Id post here

So got the kit in, had to remove front grill and two top screws on headlights plus the clip closest to the grill and then rotate it forward. I like them so far, but I am not sure what orientation the led's should be, you can adjust the diodes to be at whatever position you want i.e. 12/6, or whatever you like.

I was wondering the same thing...about putting these in my high beams. Why did you decide those won't work? Currently, I have PIAA Xtreme White Plus in my highs...but want LED.

Waiting on my 2 strokes and xb leds to show up. Question..do we not need to use the rubber cup seal things on the 3rd gens? Things that come with the 2 strokes.
