Official 1995.5-2004 5lug tacoma lifted/lowerd suspension guide and general info

4x4 pick up spindles will work. You put passenger side on the driver n driver side to passenger. Pickup are front steer n tacoma are rear steer which is why you swap sides. The pickup spindles use all pickup hubs, brake rotors n calipers. The hubs are for 6 lug which is the same as prerunner rear end.

These spindles allow you to use a lower uniball and are super strong. ESB LT kits use them and so does JD Fab.

 

When you say pickup do you mean tacomas that are prerunner and or 4x4?. Any pictures? If that would work i dont see why a 5 lug couldnt have front diff brackets welded in and converted to 4x4

 

Pickups were made up to 1995 before the Tacomas

 

So if u converted rear to 6 lug u can do the front as well with the pickup spindles and other parts u mentioned? Or is it not that simple with plug and play?

 

I thought pickups were 5 lug?

 

Wouldnt the caliper be relocated to the back

So I’m finally getting to rebuilding my daily’s front suspension, I purchased the moog 81072 instead of the 81070 you recommended did I mess up ?

 

U bought the 4 cyl 5 lug coils IIRC.

If he is 6 cyl it will be like a lowering kit to the front, probs one inch shorter than stock like the v6 coils give one inch rise from stock with 4 cyls

 

My Tacoma is an 04 5 lugg 4 cyl, I bought the 81072 hoping to get an inch in lift to level out

 

ah yeah I see now. Well unless ur previous coils were old and sagging u wont gain much. 81072 is the Part # u need for the v6 5 lug coils

 

@fortiz619 BTW, saw u managed to get a 1st gen skid onto ur 5 lug based on ur post history.

Can u tell me how u did it?

Just drill into existing skid new mounting holes that line up the 5 lug ones?

 

Its pretty much a direct bolt on besides removing and re installing front tow hooks

 

Sweet, thanks! Did u manage to get the second piece of the skid to fit as well under the cross member? Wondering if new holes are drilled to match if it'd work

 

What do you guys think of this set-up? My wheels also stick out currently about 1.5 inches, how much more would the front stick out with the spindles?

Will I need any more parts? longer brake lines etc. ?

I assume the 1.5" front spacer will provide .75" of lift

Front suspension: ~4.75" of lift

4" Doetschtech spindle lift
1.5" spacer (fatbobs kit)

Rear: ~4"? lift

2" shackles
maybe 2 inch aal? does anyone know what the lift is for this?

sounds like a good build planned! Very similar to mine except I'm prolly gonna leave the rear stock with the spindles and spacer in the front until I get a new leaf pack and hopefully a bed cage. As of now I have the spacer and probs gonna put it on for now with new shocks bc I'm getting some rub on the front tires stock rn. Dont't wanna bash fenders or cut yet but well wee


you do not need extended brake lines. The spindles will push ur right and left tires out 4.5 inches each from what I've read

ive heard the AAL makes the rear VERY stiff, even more so than people complain about the front spacer. Unless u load the bed up often or tow for like trips and stuff I would stick to the shackles

 

btw look into kyb shocks on Amazon if u want to spend less, I've also heard the fabtech shocks are stiff too if u want an alternative. Amazon has the spacer for like 30 bucks too, etc.

 

Thanks I’ll take that into account, is there another option to lift 4” besides the spindles to lift the truck? I’d like to keep these wheels but I don’t know if I want the tires sticking out 4.5” that is really far out

 

V6 5 lug coil springs have gone up in price somewhat, but that would be you're only other alternative if the tire poke bugs you too much.

moog 81070 coil springs are the part number for them. U can stack those with the spacer for bout 2 inches, or stack the daystar spacer with the control arm/lift springs combination from doestch on their website. The spindles are always just hands down the best bang for buck when it comes to lift with these trucks.
