I'm going to change my ways lol. Thanks for the tip. I was under the impression that as long as I didn't turn left or right I wasn't doing any harm and only for a couple kilometers.

I suppose someone could look up the Dos and Don'ts in their respective manual. Below is a quote from this site.
    https://vehq.com/is-driving-in-four-wheel-drive-on-a-highway-safe/

So, you can potentially safely drive on the highway in 4WD – but should you?

Unless the need arises, you shouldn’t engage 4WD on the highway or any asphalt road in a vehicle that has that option.

While you can absolutely use four-wheel drive in inclement weather for highway driving, you should not use it when the highways are clear.

As mentioned above, driving in high-speed with 4WD on means your wheels on both sides of the truck or car always turn at the same speed. That’s fine if you’re driving straight ahead, but any turn of the wheel to the sides at high speeds could be extremely dangerous.

In addition to that, you’re simply putting excess pressure on your 4WD drivetrain, differential case, and gears. Fixing all those parts would be very expensive so ideally, you want to avoid using them unless you actually need to.

Generally if you are in conditions that require 4wd the wheels will slip while turning. I usually have mine on when needed (401 during winter storm, and even on the main streets) and turn off the 4wd if the conditions allow.

Makes alot of sense to me. I guess I never gave it that much thought. From now on I'll do my 4x4 check on gravel roads. Or up at sauble in the sand lol

And I have referenced the manual different times. I guess a little knowledge can be dangerous. I am definitely happy that I am now informed as opposed to doing potential damage. Thanks so much....don't tell my wife that I admitted I was wrong

If I'm going to replace my brake pads should I just order OEM from a dealer? Not sure of the prices/haven't checked compared to others.

Gonna clean my brakes this week and figured I'd change the pads while I'm in there.

If you’re doing the pads you might as well do the rotors or have them “turned”.

I usually do oem pads and an aftermarket rotor (cheaper).

You can go either dealer or Akebono, everything else is garbage imho.

Compare OEM prices with Advics pads aftermarket (like on Rock Auto). You get new shims in the aftermarket packaging whereas the dealer charges extra. Advics is the OEM supplier.
4WD going straight is fine. Even gentle turns (like a highway off-ramp) are OK. Sharp turns cause binding.

You can reduce driveline stresses even further by adjusting the front/rear tire pressures so the rolling radius is the same. The stock truck is 400-500 lb heavier on the front axle, so the rear tires should be set 2-3 psi lower in pressure. If you have a cap and/or tools in the bed making up for the difference, then ignore this.

I've been chalk marking them about every 3 weeks and adjusting as needed. It's like all 5 have their own specific amount
