    Looking at possibly getting a 2014 DCSB. I've been thinking I want a TRD OR, but I've found a TRD Sport that the dealer has added a ton of options(lift, wheels, tires, lights, grill insert, etc) for a really good price. I'm not too sure of the differences between the two factory packages. Anyone who knows, chime in please. Thanks

    Do you want a double cab long bed? if the answer is no.... get the off road... even in a 4x2 configuration the locking rear diff is worth it. in a 4x4 config, locking diff and atrac (both not found on the sport) make the truck so much more capable.

    Both are overpriced IMO.

    Just get a SR5 and mod what you want.

    8.4 rear > 8.0 rear

    um...yea so buy a locker.
    $1,091 ARBRD129 ARB RD129 Air Locking Differential
    ARBRD129 + 8.4 rear is far superior to any e-locker rear and will cost you less to DIY vs buying from Toyota.

    It depends if your gonna use it as a truck for haulin or for offroading.
    I like the sport for the LB and I will probably never need the rear diff locker or atrack

    If your looking for short bed only then offroad is probably the best choice.

    Edit: also see above you can always add a locker later on

    offroad because of locking diff and atrac. does great in mud, snow and sand.

    Just a quick fact to all the people saying "OR for the slick stuff"

    locker use onroad in snow is retardedly unsafe

    Open/open rears (what off roads have) suck on slippery road conditions and so do lockers. The reason offroads have ATRAC is because open/open and lockers suck so bad in the slippery road conditions Toyota needed to come up with something so the sports with mechanical LSD weren't running circles around them.

    I always thought of the locker as something to use when rock crawling, or maybe trying to pull something heavy in a slick conditions. but not for driving normal speeds on or offroad.

    THIS.

    The rear locker works only in low range (on the 4WD trucks) and is for emergency getting out or pulling a Sport out (tiny joke here).

    A-TRAC also works only in low range, for slow, crawling across, up, over uneven, loose, rocky surfaces... amazing system, use it anytime I am in low range, no reason not to.

    The Sport has not had a mechanical limited slip since 2008. In 2009 ALL Tacomas got electronic limited slip (TRAC/TRAC OFF/ AUTO LSD).

    Toytec Coilovers, Total Chaos uca's, Wheelers aal+Bilstein 5160's. 285/70/17's, Method Double Standards. Magnaflow exhaust, GrilleCraft grille, Allpro bumper,diff breather relocate, yellow wire mod, oil catch can, weathertechs.
    It all depends on what YOU want. Not what everyone else wants. I got a sport because of the color matched stuff, bigger 8.4 rearend & hood. Each person has different reasons for buying what they do. I wanted the color matched bumpers because i'm leaving those on. I wanted a 8.4 because i wanted and slightly bigger/stronger rearend that i plan on adding an arb locker to. And yes, i actually like the non functional hood scoop.:rolleyes: In the end, either option is good since it's a Tacoma. You will be modding it anyway, especially if you get on this forum!
