I think that would of course help keep it dark, but i don’t think it would help keep it cool at all... I’m picturing a solar panel catching the radiant heat before it hits the roof and the inch or three between the panel and roof insulating it from adding unwanted heat through convection.

FYI, I checked in with KB Voodoo a week or two ago about the bed rails. They were out of stock and they said they are discontinuing them for 3rd Gen. I think the 2nd Gen were still available. If anyone knows an alternative, please share. I'm really interested for two reasons: (1) higher quality rail and (2) slightly lower height of the GFC (I'm really tight on space with my 70's garage height).

 

Do we know what material the top sheet is? I don’t recall reading that

The roof will not act like a green house and heat the space. It is nearly opaque unlike a greenhouse roof. There is an insulative air pocket in the roof, and the roof panel is a reflective bright white that will bounce any radiative heat from the sun.

Even though it does allow light through, it definitely transfers less thermal load than something like an aluminum panel, or thin fiberglass.

The stock white color is not sky white like the stock tacoma. It is somewhat of an ivory color, which will match more vehicles and have less of an oppressive clean room vibe than a contractor top. If you want the bright white panels, we can color match as an upgraded option. The sky white is also unavailable in a textured powdercoat (the warm white has a fine sandpaper finish), so it will show scratches easier and be slightly less durable.

I know yall are slammed, just wanted to give a heads up that I sent another email. I am ready to submit a deposit and get on the build list. Ive already requested 9/1-9/10 off from work so I can pick it up in person.

When I peruse the GFC website, I don't find any mention of a deposit; rather, I only see the option to purchase for the full amount. Am I missing something? And if so, what is the deposit amount?

 

Pre order for Tacomas is over

 

I belive they only took $500 deposits during the Pre-order time frame, but to actually place the order we were all required to pay in full.. now that pre-order is over and they are available to buy a deposit isn’t really relevant. The deposit was really just to hold a spot in line while the concept was being finalized.
