    Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
    Toyota's are well designed & parts are TOUGH! I had a 1998 Two wheel drive P/U with A340 Auto Trans. I was towing an empty U-Haul trailer (their largest enclosed one) Wife and I went from St. Louis to Detroit, MI.
    Spend most of the trip with overdrive off.
    I knew better than to use overdrive......But I did. About an hour later, the trans started smoking as fluid expanded and smoked. Suddenly we heard a new noise. We stopped and let the trans cool & refilled it. We made it another 3 hours to our destination.
    Had the trans rebuilt.
    The mechanic handed us what looked like the broken oil pump gear. Snapped in TWO parts!! But kept working!

    First off I love the info on this article. I'm happy there's something many people have in common with 5 lugs lol.

    Out of curiosity my 07 has a340e on the sticker and I'm starting to look at doing a sas. I came across this article about possibly being able to convert my a340e to a a340f by changing the oil pan and output shaft as per this article. Does this seem about right? Thank in advance.

    So I just went supercharged and am planing to do a fluid and filter change. I was looking at the transgo and sonnex kit. Which one should I do? Or should I do both? It seems like a few of the replacement parts are the same.

    If you are going with a supercharger you will need the trans-go kit .
    You can purchase Sonnax valving individually according to the wear you find when you overhaul the valve body .

    In you original post you said the zip kit corrects some specific concerns to help the prevent cooking. What are those? My goal is to have all the parts with me to minimize downtime lol

    I cant tell you what is worn out inside your valve body without looking at your valve body .
    Are you having shifting concerns or the trans works well and you want to add the shift kit for better holding capacity ?
    What version of the A340 sereies transmission do you have ?

    Before the supercharger it worked perfectly. After adding the supercharger the trans generally works well. I did start to notice an occasional slow shift from 1st to 2nd. Like I'm still moving forward then there's a slight jerk into gear. My temps have been around 170 - 180 F with 180 being the max

    Go to the first post and identify your transmission .
    After you identify your model of transmission , send me a pm and I will help you figure out whats going to be the most likely valve body parts other than the shift kit .

    I got a P0986 code. It shifted with a big lurching hard shift from park into first a few times and then I cleared the code with my ScanGauge and it sort of went away. Does this mean that particular shift solinoid is worn out or on its way out? Or maybe just needing some dielectric grease on the wiring harness plug?

    Are you sure your transmission is a 4 speed auto ?

    It could be a number of issues either with the solenoid , the wiring that goes from the ecu to the solenoid or debris causing the solenoid not to function correctly .Do you have a DVOM ? The code needs to be diagnosed using the flowchart listed below

    Great, thanks gearcruncher! I am going to call my local transmission shop to see if they have any experience with these transmissions and the diagnostic manual. If not then I'll have to take it to the local Toyota dealer so they can run the tests. Thanks for the dig.
