I have been searching for 2 days now and cannot come up with anything.

At some point in time i saw a thread about rust forming on the roof at the top of the windshield. Its happening on my truck and want to see whatever happened with it so I know where to go with mine.

    Thanks in advance

Is the rust in the roof right above the glass? If it is it is usually caused be a poor glass installation. its not uncommon when removing glass if the technician isnt really paying attention to scratch the paint in the pinchweld (body). If he is lazy and doesn't fill the scratches, and reapply something to cover the bare metal, boom. rust. and there is not much you can do without removing the glass, taking it to a body shop and doing a fair amount of cleanup and repainting.

Well the truck has been leaking water as of late. Go ta real musty smell in it after it rains.

Ended up taking the A pillar trim off and dropping the headliner down to find out that the rust ended up making its way though the pinch weld and now i have a nice water leak. its about a inch wide along the top of the windshield and is maybe 8inches from the drivers side edge of the glass.

My best guess is when they replaced the glass in march the guy cut through the paint and didnt fix it right. Going to talk to the insurance company today to see if there is anything I can do about it.

Glass company owned up to it. Truck is actually going in tomorrow to get fixed

They are going to pull the windshield and send the truck to a body shop to get the rust fixed.

Mean while i will be in a rental until its done

I will try to snap a picture of the rust before it gets dark tonight.

    Safelite

they ended up "fixing" it but did a total hack job see below

they didnt even clean the roof before the sprayed the new paint and only painted the first few inches of the roof. Nothing was blended and the filler wasnt even sanded all that well.

currently in limbo on getting it fixed correctly.

wow no way I would accept that. Tell them you want you own body shop to fix it so you know it will be fixed right.

It's crap like that makes me worried about changing my windshield. I bet you if that installer was working on their own car, it wouldn't look like that. Some people just don't care about other people's property, or their job for that matter.
