    I guess you could say deep down I’ve always been (or wanted to be) a Tacoma guy. I have loved my Tacoma since I picked it up at the lot brand new and will continue driving it as long as I can.


    Quick story on how I started off with my 2014 DCSB TRD OR (this may end up being long winded)…​

    I was just finishing up college and was driving a Highlander at the time. It was good enough to get me from A to B and reliable but that was about it. I wanted to get back into a truck and LOVED the way the current Tacomas looked and heard nothing but good things about them. I read up on them and found out that the 2nd gen had recently received a “facelift” and that talk of a 3rd gen was coming within a year or so. I went to a couple dealerships and test drove some and was sold instantly with the looks, function, reliability, really everything the current 2nd gen could offer. I then started price shopping and found a 2013 Tacoma (which was a DCSB and TRD OR… pretty much the same thing I ended up with as far as options) that was used with only about 13k miles from a non-Toyota dealership in Augusta, Ga. I remember calling the dealership and asking all about the truck and, happy with everything I heard, told the sales guy I would be there first thing in the morning to drive it and if all was well, get it. My dad and I drove down Wednesday morning early and showed up at the used car dealership lot, saw the truck and found the salesman. To my dismay, there was a guy who got there about 30 min before we showed up and was in process of buying the truck… I was so defeated! Before going home, dad and I went next door to the Toyota lot and browsed around. We talked with a sales guy there for a bit and didn’t really see any Tacomas on the lot that caught my eye. He looked on the system and saw there was a new 2014 DCSB TRD OR, in the same color as the 2013 I had just missed out on, at a dealership nearby. So, after some haggling, I decided to bite the bullet and get it. The picture above is how she looked as soon as they gave me the keys and all paperwork was signed. From that point until now, I haven’t looked back and it was worth every penny.

    Sorry for the above novel, but it’s been over 6 years since this post to that time I got it brand new and I still remember every detail about that day I got my first Tacoma. I have kept it stock for years with minor cosmetic upgrades due to several reasons but am finally getting into the mod world and have come to love this forum.


    Now for the good stuff… I’ll try to make this organized. Below are the mods that I have done and plan on doing. Most are going to be threads and posts from others that are extremely helpful on this forum and I’ll try to give my two cents where I think would be needed. Please ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer! Happy moding!



    Completed Mods/Upgrades

    • Disable seat belt chime (keeps the flashing icon)
      • I ordered a similar product to what's linked and after some playing around with it, I got in and found an option for seat belt chime then deactivated and saved






    • Roof rack (not too happy with this one, going to upgrade to Hooke Road)

    • Anytime rear camera (I would like to build on this and add a front camera one day)






    • Compass/Temp Mirror upgrade kit
      • (I ended up with a like new GNTX-455 as I was just interested in compass, temp and auto dim) – email Bob and he’ll hook you up, he’s an awesome guy
      • Write-up for a 2014 (from weenydoggy)












    Planned Mods/Upgrades





    • Interior lighting mod
      • A couple ideas for how to wire them up here
      • How to connect for Dome light "on" button to work here
      • Constant hot source fuse block in cab here
      • Illumination wiring for switch here
