NOISE HAS BEEN CORRECTED, IT'S GONE

Originally, the techs believed that my frame horn body mounts and bushings were defective. The body bolts and bushings were removed and replaced, however, the metal on metal snapping sound was still present when driving over speed humps. Back to the drawing board, the next part removed and replaced, the front left strut and top plate. Finally, the noise is gone.

A snapping noise? I get a click/clunk...do you think it's the same thing?

The first post in this thread is linked to a video, that video shows the exact same noise I had.

Appreciate the info man. Been to the dealer twice recently, was told it's simple brake slap and was sent home. Things might change now, thanks

that doesnt surprise me, some sort of shifting of the spring assembly. Im not too worried about he noise on my truck just more of an annoyance, i got bigger issues with driveline vibes to deal with.

Fingers crossed hope this works. I have my truck at the dealership right now getting both of my front struts replaced.

I don't think they will be replacing the bushings and mounts. Hopefully just the struts will do.

I’m on my second set of free dealer replaced OEM Blisteins. Going to try for a third, noise is much worse at 53k miles now. I can feel it in the floorboard sometimes when I hit a big dip or hole in the pavement.

I think I'm starting to have this issue now. What you did to the dealer and have them believe it is the body mount issue?

Just got my vehicle out of the dealer as they had it for five days. Noise has been driving me nuts for 18 months. They replaced both front shocks, mounts and bushings now noise is gone. Dealer was persistent to find problem as this was my fourth trip for same problem.

Did the dealer say what exactly was wrong with the struts, mounts and bushings? No sense in using oem parts...

I had the same noise when going over speed humps and sudden dips at speed. I skipped going to the dealer and just installed new 5100 struts in the front and now the noise is gone. Thanks for the information and posting the videos.

On my vehicle the service advisor said top of spring had worn through retainer cushion {90948-a2001} into top of support sub-assy. {48609-04020}. Was starting to sound like a tambourine over dips or coming out of driveways.

The dealer did not upgrade anything. I didn’t take my truck to the dealer. I put 5100s in on my own. After I put the 5100s in on the front the sound has gone away.

I took my sway bar off and this noise still persisted, was better, but still there. My noise is back and I'm not sure what it is, maybe dirt between body and new rad support mount

Guys the search function on this site is actually pretty good compared to other forums, use it :)

This issue has been extensively discussed going back a decade, spoiler alert: there's no definitive "solution" nor a singular cause, and it doesn't seem to actually even be a problem as it doesn't lead to any actual failure, its just a noise don't drive yourself crazy freaking out over it lol.

This is the same as the Tacoma "lurch" or the "brake clank/clink" they've been discussed a THOUSAND times yet whenever there's a new post people hype eachother up about it and get all nervous over nothing, "DEFINITLY NOT NORMAL!" "TYPICAL DEALER DIDN'T TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!" "FIND ANOTHER DEALER!" "MAKE THEM FIX IT!" "I'M GETTING THE RUNAROUND!"

You guys realize you bought an offroad TRUCK right?? It ain't a Lexus, have your truck inspected to make sure its nothing abnormal but if a shop says everything is ok then everything is OK! Don't get all hypochondriac over it, some people are nervous wrecks/OCD and that sucks I'm not speaking to you, but for the rest of you sometimes you just need to live with stuff, I know i now "but I spent a lot of money and it should be PERFECT!!!". Well do trucks not vibrate every time you start them?? You learned to live with that right? Does wind noise not happen on the freeway? You learned to live with it just fine right?? Its your own mentality about what is ok and what isn't go practice mindfulness or learn meditation or something :)

This is the famous "speed bump clank", its nothing new and from what I've read before you can drive yourself crazy getting rid of it only for it to come back again.

My personal anecdote on it: My 1st and 2nd gens both did this and I still drove this shit out of them to a combined 300k miles, never got worse never bothered me. 3rd gen does it now and I don't care lol.

But don't take my word for it:

Yeah I mean do what you can but at the end of the day don't let it actually bother you. For the dash rattle I stuffed some dynomat cutout stuff in between my dash and A-pillar, took a few minutes, it worked, but now have another one but my overhead console, I'll allocate 10-15 minutes to fixing it and if it doesn't work fuck it not worth a trip to the dealership or even the mental energy, I'll just live with it. Just like I live with the lurch, and the clunk, and my bed rack squeel, and my brake pad reverse clank. Some people add all this stuff up and swear their truck is falling apart and their life is ruined and I'm just like... meh

Reminds me of an old gem my dad told me: "rule #1 don't fret the small stuff..... rule #2, its ALL small stuff"
