September 2016 - Well, after years of delays I'm finally starting to make some progress on the taco so I figure I'd start a build thread to document it. First a little background on me and what my goals are with the truck.

I purchased a certified preowned 2012 DCSB TRD OR in January 2013. The previous owner optioned out this truck with pretty much all the factory options along with a leer shell and a carpet kit for the bed, Toyota accessories tube steps, and trd skid plate. My plan was a mild build...something to get me into the sierras or desert. No plans for rock crawling or mudding, just a well mannered overland rig that I could DD.

I started saving here and there for the build right up until August 2014 when I found out that my cancer had returned (I was originally diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the appendix in December 2011 and had surgery in January 2012). A couple months later I was at UCSD for surgery and chemo (October 2014). I was out of work for three months and blew through the funds I had saved for my build.

After recovery I decided that I was going to put the build on hold because a lot of the projects around the house that I was previously able to handle myself I just couldn't do so we ended up paying contractors to wrap up a few projects on our to-do list.

After 18 months of clear scans I decided it was time to purchase something for the truck to celebrate and that's where my build begins. I ordered a set of @RelentlessFab bolt on sliders that I had intended to order back in December 2014, until receiving my first hospital bill and realizing that was going to eat what was left of my savings.

Unfortunately, shortly after I ordered the sliders I found out that the cancer is back. This time I decided to proceed with the build and try to get as much done before my next round of treatments begin so I contacted @HeadStrong Off-Road and ordered extended travel Fox 2.5 coilovers, Fox 2.0 remote reservoir rear shocks, Dakar leaf springs, and light racing UCAs.

I installed the suspension the first weekend I had free in late August 2016. Today I picked up the uncoated sliders from Relentless and plan to paint and get these ready for installation the first weekend in October.

Other than a few other things noted below, that's where the truck stands today. Next up I'm planning to mount a winch/winch tray up front then skid plates. It's been a fun project and wrenching keeps my mind off other things which is good right now. Here's the build list and some pics....I'll stop rambling now.

I may reach out in the spring/summer if I'm up to it to see if you want to show me some trails up here. I've pretty much stayed east of 395 with the exception of some exploring around the truckee train tunnels on my DRZ.

Speaking of beer @jberry813, my goal
Is to get out of the desk job and farm hops. I do a little home brewing too. My consumption is down at the moment but should pick back up after I get this mess in my abdomen sorted back out.
