Question for you off-road veterans:
I went on the newbie run last year and had a blast.
This was my first time offroading with the Taco.
I understand that this year there will not be a newbie run, so I'm thinking of going out by myself and my son. (or with anyone who wants to join, I'd prefer not to go alone for various obvious reasons),
I'm thinking to do sort of the same run, but maybe also stay overnight, do some fishing etc. (it's been ages since I camped, so that should be eh, 'interesting')
My question is: how do I plan/find a route? Do you use something like Onyx, or the maps on the OF4WD site?
How do I make sure I'm staying on legal trails, and how do I know where I am allowed to camp, fish and build a fire etc?

 

Just go up to Ardbeg, camp at round lake or black lake - where ever you can find a spot. Stick to the main trail and avoid anything that looks risky if you're by yourself (deep water, high center rocks or ruts).

 

Best bet would be to get onto the OF4WD. Has all the maps and camping spots in gps files and the OF4WD is working on an app which should come out in the next year or so. Will make it all easily accessible.

for fishing you will have to check the fishing regulations of Ontario and get a outdoors card with a fishing license. Can get a day license or a year license.
