I just stumbled upon this thread. Damn those pics give me hope for my newly acquired prerunner. I get the non-4x4 blues often, then see this. How do you manage going up rocks and handle the Glamis sand? Trying to decide whether I wanna trade in my truck for a 4x4 or put a locker and upgrade my prerunner. I got a great deal on this thing used and it has low miles. also live in socal where I don't have to deal with mud and snow.

I went through the exact same thing. I couldn't afford the extra $$ for 4x4 when I bought my 3rd gen. I felt bad till I went to cleghorn with a buddy that has a 4x4 tacoma, you'd be surprised what you can do with 2wd n a locker.

Its amazing this build still attracts so much attention  I never noticed before but it's pretty awesome to see 371,000 views compared to others  Rinzler will Return. Someday...

    That's TW for ya!

    Correct. :pout:

When in doubt, throttle out! But honestly its all about picking the right lines when wheeling. The dunes were an adventure for sure but once I respected the sand, I learned how to park and if going up a hill I learned to never go head on, but from the side or zig zag my way up to keep momentum. The locker is an excellent investment, especially aftermarket like ARB. I like my 4x4 but damn I wish I had a locker on my tundy, it really does make all the difference.

Good tires are huge as well but I did fix it for ya! :D Investing in a proven shock, in socal especially is worth every penny. ADS is much more resistant to pitting and rust unlike icon. Ask @STiLL WILL

Man i've gotta say, very very nice build.
I've never liked 1st or 2nd gens with angel eyes but your shrouds, and vertical strips set it off just right. Great job

EDIT: I see you no longer have the truck. Dang. Doing back-reading now!

EDIT 2: Page 187.. dang man i'm glad you're okay. I've been there with a totaled truck I know the uneasy feeling it brings knowing all your hard work is crumbled in front of you.

Here's to the future build though! :drunk:

On 1/2/2016, I lost more than a truck. It was what made me the Adventure Enthusiast I am today. From this truck, I made friends all over the country and was introduced to a family I am so grateful to be apart of! Rinzler was iconic and despite the loss, I am happy where life has taken me. Cheers to my followers and all those that inspired me, as well as those I've inspired! #RIPRinzler

With that said, HUGE THANKS to everyone that voted for me and RINZLER! It's been whole year and a couple days since the tragic loss, and I appreciate the support from all of TW. Another big thanks to all the vendors and their donations along with all the help of the mods in putting the awards together! These generous donations will definitely be used in my Tundra build!

His hood latches broke loose and blocked his vision.

That guy in the jeep was NOT supposed to be parked in that section of whoops

I seen the video but couldn't tell I figured the guy in the jeep probably shouldn't have been there. His pickup was one of my favorites on here sad to see
