Thanks, I have no vibrations but my driver side has a very light squeel kind of like metal to metal. I have checked brakes and dust plate etc. It's so soft and high pitch alot of people cant hear it, but it SCREAMS to me lol.

 

Does anyone have the needle bearing removal tool that they want to sell? I need to replace my bearing with the ECGS bushing.

 

Hey every one, new to this forum, looking for some advice on what to do about the recent issues i've been having with my '08 Tacoma, so basically i started getting bit of a shaking of sorts whilst driving, did a scan and found out that there was apparently a cylinder misfiring, tried all the obvious solutions, i.e. injector spark plugs, and ignition coils. turns out theres a problem in the head of the engine, we then discovered that my rings were worn, i was gonna overhaul the entire thing, but ive been advised against it because of possible loss of power after overhauling and not mention i'm not certain if theres anything wrong with my ecu as well. what i've decided is to do an engine swap, i wanna drop the 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 Tundra engine in, now ive done some research and found that it is possible, the tranny and engine are a perfect fit and the mounting may only require minor modifications, i dont have an issue with the consumption so no biggy there, anyway getting to the point, just wondering what any one with experience in engine swaps/mods think about this idea? ive seen some post but doesnt seem anyone has actually gone through with it, i just wanna know if i do the swap which of course includes ecu and wiring swap if everything will work as per norm in the vehicle? and what to expect in terms of any problems i might incur during the process or after completion

bare in mind ultimately the reason for me doing this swap is cause i live in South America and the tacoma v6 engine cost about $4000 before installation even if i ship it as opposed to the 4.7l tundra engine which is gonna cost me $2000 for the engine, ecu and wiring. so saving a lot of cash and getting way more power sounds like a win win for me, let me know your thoughts, sorry for the really long post. here are a few pics of my baby tho

Got a ? for ya'll.....i found someone near me selling a jbl stock system and screen they where selling. if my truck does not have this or a screen is it all plug and play or would there be alot of wiring??

Mostly plug and play but the JBL system is amped. If the amp isn't included I'm the pur phase your going to get horrible sound quality.

 

PRO TIP!!! Hopefully this hasn’t been covered...

Anyways, this is for those of you guys and gals who have adjustable CO’s (fox specific since that’s what I have) and need or want to adjust your preload. So, now that we’ve established that you have the will, let me provide you with the way.

Tools required:
(x2) 8mm-5/16” standard punch
(x2) 7/16” 12pt deep well socket in 3/8” drive or higher (12pt is geometrically closer to a “circle”)
(x2) 6”+ socket extension
(x1) 3/16” long shank hex socket or L-key
(x1) can of WD40


Punches I use.

Not to point out the obvious but here is your CO assembly.

- Raise front up in order for CO’s to fully extend.
- Measure and record the distance of the gap (indicated by arrow) before loosening (mine is around ~1/8”).
- Apply WD40 to gap, top/bottom of ring and shock body threads.
- Using the 3/16” hex socket or L-key begin loosening the rings retaining fastener (indicated by arrow) enough so that you can begin turning the ring. DO NOT REMOVE FASTENER AT ANY POINT. If you remove or loosen the fastener too much you will be at risk of the ring skipping threads = not good!
- Insert your punches into the deep well sockets, then attach your extensions.
- Insert punches into ring dowels (indicated by arrow) until fully seated and only turn ring with punches fully inserted.
- TURN! Do not yank, move slowly and deliberately.
- Apply WD40 as you turn it will aid in effort applied, also remember friction = heat.
- Adjust to desired setting, tighten ring fastener (don’t over-tighten it; hand tighten + one or two wrench flats should be good).
- Document your progress and results for future reference.

You peddling your YouTube business, on my favorite forum, is almost as bad as the guy that came to my door selling security.

I will however look the video up if I ever need to replace my front drive shaft.

 

I appreciate the honesty and I mean no disrespect to you and my fellow tacoma enthusiasts. I can see how this can come off as a door to door vacuum sales man / solar panel sales man and I do hate BS from people. Just like you, I like to do things myself, am also an engineer and I hate to pay dealership or shops w/ mods or upgrades that I can do myself. I happen to have gotten pretty good at vid editing. My vids are straight up DIY's w torque specs and tools sizes, no fluff no garbage. I just happen to find what I've gotten good at and share the things that my viewers want to see.

 

Why not just sell the tacoma for a 1st gen tundra? They're practically the same size/weight only pro to having the 4.7 taco would be being able to say you have a v8 tacoma. This is obviously all very opinionated but unless you like the look of the taco that much I would just get rid of it or throw another 4.0l in

Man your videos are great! This one is is great too hope I don’t have to pull my trans anytime soon. I am however after watching your four wheel drive actuator video going to change mine. Part is ordered should hope it will fix my issue. It’s intermittent one day it works next time I try to engage it just flashes.

 

I gotcha, that electronic actuator is a bit finnicky. Best of luck!
